    Pros

Good culture and collaborative environment, competent people, FinTech space, ongoing learning, good benefits.

    Cons

Pay has traditionally been a little lower than Financial Services sector but they are taking steps to address that.

I worked at Moneris full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Good benefits paid by company Good salary Location Cafeteria Relax lounge Nice mini lounge areas Open door policy Many paid sick days and paid even when late Work life balance Work from home program

    Cons

Some toxic people who are negative and bring down morale. Management never usually on the same page Managers talk behind each others backs and behind their bosses backs. Not enough training, 1 on 1 or team meetings and huddles.. they all always get cancelled due to service levels. No huddle or training for new procedures or products. Usually just an email sent and figure it out in your own. Some help desk reps... dont even know the right answers which leads us to give the wrong information.

    Advice to Management

Get on the same page and stop talking behind your coworkers backs. This is very unprofessional and looks bad on you. No one will trust you or your direction.

I worked at Moneris for more than 5 years

    Pros

Relatively good benefits. Some really bright people to learn from. Interesting projects and technologies. Fairly good social environment

    Cons

    - Too much work and not enough people to do the work. Too many individual objectives each year. Each objective requires collaboration of multiple individuals and departments each of which have their own objectives which may not dovetail with your objectives. The result is very little gets accomplished and projects drag on for months and years. Projects scopes are typically ramped up at the beginning by business ... to ridiculous levels then cut down to minimal deliverables in order to claim something, anything was accomplished by the end of the quarter. Finally many projects are delivered, forgotten, unused and everyone moves on to next objective. - Very congested, noisy and disruptive working environment not conducive to getting serious work done. I used to go to coffee shop to get work done. - High turnover, sick/absentee rates, burnout, overall low morale - Much is staff is incapable of performing at level required. Many people just cruise through the day, doing minimum work and keeping their mouths shut about obvious issues and deficiencies so as to be good "team player".

    Advice to Management

Focus on core goals, core projects. If you ask people to work on 10 different projects concurrently, nothing will get done. Stop the inane HR projects. I really don't need "e-recognition" points from a boss who walks by my desk every morning and never says hello or replies to my emails.

I worked at Moneris for more than 3 years

    Pros

Pay, benefits, good culture and ability for promotion

    Cons

Many last minute emergencies Often disorganized - reactive instead of proactive Long hours Top down incentive programs often were not completely thought through - always finding issues not considered beforehand

    Advice to Management

Ensure that all levels of leadership have the tools necessary to complete tasks - many tasks had to be customized as the proper training/lack of information did not take place for systems. Payroll reporting was incorrect each pay cycle.

    Negative Outlook

    I worked at Moneris full-time

    Pros

    - Good benefits - Easily accessible for recently graduated students, and others that may be looking to switch careers and needing a stepping stone for better opportunities. - Fun environment...

    Cons

    - ... until you move higher through the ranks, and begin to see some of the dysfunctional/irrational ways with which that the organization operates. - Management is by and large shoddy; mediocrity is tolerated and self-aggrandization encouraged. - The leadership/executive team, as of early 2015, is impressively weak. There is no sense of an actual vision/strategy for the organization, it mostly just IS.

    Advice to Management

    - Define a strategy that amounts to something other than "sit back and watch the bank referrals come in". - Retain and bring in talent. - Eliminate poor performers/non-value add roles. - Make the organization lean and nimble again.
