I have been working at Mitchells & Butlers full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Quarterly bonus Good working atmosphere generally Company has good training Decent people and practices in place to help you succeed rather than just criticise failures Yearly salary review and rise Live in acccomodation usually available for management Keen to promote internally

    Cons

Intense pressure and stress to deliver Hard to balance all aspects of the job on one persons shoulders - stock, food safety, cleaning, people management, hiring, and of course just daily service. Always seems there isnt enough hours in the day Little work life balance - 48hrs p/w as standard for salaried management Inductions often messy and dont get people off to the right start Labour budgets are very tight... and therefore a lot of responsibility and unpaid overtime lands on salaried managers.

    Advice to Management

Reduce stress on managers by allowing more labour budget and spreading out responsibilities. More work life balance would benefit productivity and therefore company's success as a whole.
