I worked at Microsoft (More than a year)

    Pros

    * I loved my team, they helped my grow and learn as an intern * Get to experience lots of different aspect of the program management roll

    Cons

    * Your experience is very team based. Different team will have different experiences. * No free food * Culture can be very bureaucratic.

    Advice to Management

Give interns interesting projects! But also structure the work. As a new employee it can be hard to understand what to do and how to do it.

Great training process and culture. The employers not only focus on your technical skills, but on your overall behaviors.

    Cons

There is no shortcoming currently, I am just a graduate student and feel great honor to work in such a good company.

I worked at Microsoft (Less than a year)

    Pros

Tons of benefits, they definitely spoil their interns and make sure you are getting the best experience possible

    Cons

It is hard to rise and get promoted to managerial positions. Relaxed culture (could be a benefit), doesn't push you too hard to get out of your comfort zone.

    Advice to Management

Empowering interns and better defined roles for the explore program where 3 interns work together.

    Pros

Interesting research areas with many top researchers in the field. Brilliant colleagues that collaborate. Beautiful location and nice campus.

    Cons

The weather can be difficult for some people, and traffic can be difficult. This is offset by the decent public transportation.

I have been working at Microsoft as an intern

    Pros

They go all out for their interns. Had a blast this summer, gained new friends and work experience.

    Cons

Less than 1% of all the interns are design interns. If MS is really investing in design, they should fully commit.
