    Pros

Potential to sell and make money is there. However, in a rapidly decreasing business (newspapers), that ability has become harder and harder and harder.

    Cons

Because the newspaper industry is in a rapid decline, management is acting out of desperation and tries desperately to stay relevant. However, due to diminished revenue, every new project is always approached with implemented poorly and on a shoestring budget. Sales reps are asked to sell digital platforms but aren't given the tools (laptops and/or cell phones) to present effectively to customers.

    Advice to Management

Most upper management haven't been on a sales call in years and are out of touch and have unrealistic expectations. Stop managing by fear and intimidation and manage and motivate your sales force effectively. Most importantly, give them the tools they need to succeed.

    Pros

Some really great people work for Metroland, however no one stays. It's a great place to make friends with people that are interested in the same fields you are. It's a great company to use as a stepping stone to get to the job that you really want. Work for Metroland is a resume builder, don't expect much more.

    Cons

lack of supervision, lack of management, lack of direction, constant lay-offs, constant voluntary departure programs, below average salaries, lack of incentive to better your performance

    Advice to Management

it's hard to write advice to management, as there barely was any..
