Careful what you wish for - dream car, not a dream company to work at
Mar 29, 2023 - Design Engineer in BengaluruRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Attractive salary Great benefits in terms of facilities provided at work - food, pick up and drop, your own Mercedes car if you're in senior management If you're lucky enough - you'll end up meetings some great people across different teams like I did Fantastic experience to go on-site and see what Mercedes and Daimler really does.
Cons
You end up having so much free time due to lack of work Poor leadership at the mid-level and some pretty nasty politics as you go up Team leaders and managers are more interested in impressing counterparts in Germany. The quality of work is really poor and you don't have any creative freedom. Not the best place to be in terms of learning and growth opportunities if you are in your early stages of your career. You'd rather work somewhere else at a slightly lower pay and join here as a mid-level manager if you are motivated by pay. You will struggle to opportunities to jump into higher levels outside, once you work here. I really think its detrimental to your growth unless you are in a management position.

" Negative Impact of Favoritism in Hiring Practices" - Competency based hiring missing
Mar 19, 2023 - Product Manager in BengaluruRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
I had the pleasure of working for Mercedes-Benz. Innovation was prioritized, and there were opportunities for professional development. The flexible scheduling and competitive compensation made for a great work-life balance. I would highly recommend this company!
Cons
Mercedes-Benz as big tech company, it should focus on culture of inclusive and encourage collaboration. Its only visible on paper and not in practice. If Mercedes-Benz as employer hires only old friends from Bosch at management levels, regardless of whether their skills match the job requirements, it can lead to a toxic work environment. Employees who are not part of this group may feel excluded, overlooked, and undervalued. It can create a perception of unfairness, nepotism, and lack of transparency in hiring and promotion practices. This approach can lead to a lack of diversity in management, resulting in a narrow perspective on business decisions and strategies. It can also limit opportunities for employees to advance and develop new skills, leading to a stagnant workplace culture. Moreover, if the old friends hired at management levels do not possess the necessary skills and qualifications for the job, it can negatively impact the company's performance and productivity. The business may suffer as a result of poor decision-making, inadequate leadership, and low employee morale. Competency based hiring is need of hour and Mercedes-Benz at global employer should focus on this.
