I have been working at McMillan full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

McMillan provides a wonderful workplace culture, a fast paced/dynamic, dog-friendly environment in a great location. Educational opportunities and growth opportunities are available. Upper management has strong leadership skills and are focused on mentorship. Another nice perk is the option to work from home. The company is sympathetic to family obligations and understands the importance of work/life balance.

    Cons

My only criticism is that salaries are not always competitive depending on the role.

    Advice to Management

I recommend reviewing the average salaries for digital agencies in Canada and align to those.

    Cons

Work life balance is a challenge due to inconsistent workload and tight timelines Projects can tend be dull and repetitive (B2B / software tech) Salary for certain roles can be below industry standard

    Advice to Management

Keep up the transparency of sharing business goals and vision - its very motivating and encouraging. Consider offering a consistent work from home day per week or flex hours to help with work life balance Explore other 'best place to work' companies to see what benefits/perks they offer and consider bringing them to Mcmillan such as fitness memebership, top up for mat leaves, parking pass etc.

I have been working at McMillan full-time for more than a year

    Pros

McMillan is the top agency in the city of Ottawa, in my opinion. McMillan has created great opportunities to work with a very talented and experienced team. The agency culture allows for good work - life balance. The best agency I have personally worked for. I look forward to a long future with McMillan.

    Cons

The internal revision processes could use some streamlining.

I have been working at McMillan full-time

    Pros

    - Fabulous culture - Exceptional team - Always new and exciting challenges to take on - Perks such as a day off for Volunteer Day, fun events, flex hours

    Cons

    - Compensation and benefits could greatly improve outside of the baseline standards of what is offered everywhere else. Compensation is lower than industry standards depending on your role within the agency. - Work/Life balance is hard to maintain given the industry. McMillan does a decent job but there is still a great expectation for overtime in almost all roles - The work can get a bit dull focusing only on B2B,...

    Advice to Management

    - Invest in your employees, pay above industry standards to attract and keep top talent. Give raises to people who deserve it before they ask. Don't wait for people to resign to offer what they deserve or offer potential candidates exciting offers before properly compensating your current employees. - Look at what other benefits companies are offering other than the standard health benefits and see what is manageable...

    Pros

Have worked with this company for a number of years and continue to be amazed by the wonderful culture and exceptionally talented people that work here. So many perks it's hard to list them all but here's a few: - huge advocates for professional development, sending employees all over the world on conferences and training opportunities - competitive salaries and annual cost of living increases based on inflation...

I worked at McMillan full-time for more than 19 years

    Pros

The agency was founded in 1996. So it is young enough to be fresh, exciting and open to new ideas. But it is established enough to have a solid HR function, well-trained and supportive managers, and an excellent work-life balance. As an agency, the clients' needs can often tip that balance during busy times but the agency is very accommodating to balance things out appropriately. It is a very fun, laid-back yet professional...

    Cons

The only cons I can think of are actually consistent with any creative agency of that size (80 people, +/-). Internal communication can be challenging and the inherent 'tension' that can exist between clients and creative pops up now and again.

    Advice to Management

Continue to nurture the amazing culture that exists. Develop talent from within the ranks.
