I have been working at McMillan full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Genuine concern for the working well-being of employees founded in an appreciation of the fact that employees drive business, revenue and profit.

    Cons

Minor quibble: Some business practices aren't quite in sync with a) the rapid growth in employee count and b) a significant change in in the nature of the business.

    Advice to Management

Stay the course. Keep listening and learning. There is no perfect and there is no done. It's a process leading to better and you're doing it better than most.

    Pros

Very supportive. There is opportunity for anyone who steps-up. They value proactivity. Surrounded by smart people that I enjoy working with and hanging out with.

    Cons

Nothing really that I would pick on.

I have been working at McMillan

    Pros

I work with a talented group of people. McMillan has a great working atmosphere. I feel we all support each other. No big egos. Well, a few big-ish egos, but that goes with the territory. Totally reasonable and tolerable.

    Cons

Too hot in winter and too cold in summer. Really, no complaints on my end. Any complaints are usually taken care of right away and problems solved.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing the great work that you are doing, and continue with the training that McMillan provides.

I have been working at McMillan full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great benefits, perks, social activities, acknowledgement of successes, cool people and managers who care.

    Cons

Too many long periods with nothing substantial to work on ... too many dry high-tech clients ... too few opportunities to dig into challenging conceptual work that might end up in a marketer's portfolio.

    Advice to Management

Work harder to find more creative projects/opportunities or pull back on the "creative b2b agency" messaging ... I suspect that the majority of staff do not feel creatively engaged or challenged on a day-to-day basis

I have been working at McMillan full-time

    Pros

-Amazing colleagues and great environment -Intelligent, hard-working and fun people -Very supportive management who appreciate everyone's efforts -Leaders who genuinely listen to their staff -Generous bonuses -Parties are hard to match

    Cons

-Exclusive B2B (especially technology) clients leads to unique challenges and often times very dry work -Uniqueness of required skillsets given complex nature of B2B clients' work leads to periods of understaffing -Nature of clients' work and industries necessarily leads to a painful focus on technical details at the expense of time and resources for creative brilliance -Potential lack of willingness to truly... turn down work and clients who do not present a big creative opportunity

    Advice to Management

Be sure to consider the acquisition and retention implications of maintaining a 100% B2B approach.

I have been working at McMillan full-time

    Pros

    - Fabulous culture - Exceptional team - Always new and exciting challenges to take on - Perks such as a day off for Volunteer Day, fun events, flex hours

    Cons

    - Compensation and benefits could greatly improve outside of the baseline standards of what is offered everywhere else. Compensation is lower than industry standards depending on your role within the agency. - Work/Life balance is hard to maintain given the industry. McMillan does a decent job but there is still a great expectation for overtime in almost all roles - The work can get a bit dull focusing only on B2B..., limited creative opportunities. - Large turnover

    Advice to Management

    - Invest in your employees, pay above industry standards to attract and keep top talent. Give raises to people who deserve it before they ask. Don't wait for people to resign to offer what they deserve or offer potential candidates exciting offers before properly compensating your current employees. - Look at what other benefits companies are offering other than the standard health benefits and see what is... manageable for McMillan to offer (for example: parking allowances, gym passes, health and wellness dollars, daycare, top up for mat leave an paternal leave) - Allow for more creative opportunities

    Pros

Have worked with this company for a number of years and continue to be amazed by the wonderful culture and exceptionally talented people that work here. So many perks it's hard to list them all but here's a few: - huge advocates for professional development, sending employees all over the world on conferences and training opportunities - competitive salaries and annual cost of living increases based on... inflation rates - regular employee reviews and ongoing one on one's with managers so the lines of communication are always open - management team receives leadership coaching to ensure they have the skills they need to manage their teams - amazing social committee that always has fun parties and events planned throughout the year including drink cart Friday's each week - office is dog friendly and there are lots of furry friends roaming the halls almost every single day - you get your birthday day off, and extra day off at Easter and the office closes between Christmas and New Years - great benefits plan - flex time so that you can fit in your personal appointments without hassle - extremely collaborative environment filled with exceptionally talented individuals who are without ego - 1 paid day off per year to volunteer
