I worked at Maple Leaf Foods (More than a year)

    Pros

The people on the production floor are good people to work with

    Cons

    No regular work bad management

    Advice to Management

The time I worked there I was harassed by managers and when I brought up with my union rep all managers made it impossible for any action to be done to her so she’s free to harass others individuals as she does to this day many people have left maple leaf because of her.
Maple leaf is a terrible place to work you never have set schedule you could work early one morning and the next day late afternoon you never get 40 hours and if you do it is because one day you work pass your eight hour shift one day you could work 12 hours and then the next 4-5 hours because of this kind is scheduling everyone is cranky and exhausted and no one says anything because most of the people there are immigrants who need the job to survive and upper management know this and uses this against them “your lucky you have work” there is no safety in the plant forklift drivers speed without looking hitting people without consequence going where they shouldn’t be and not being told anything. For what you go there daily the pay is hardly adequate and benefits you have to pay for them instead of the company. Terrible place to work. I’m glad I left best decision I’ve made.

I worked at Maple Leaf Foods (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Easy transit to get there

    Cons

It was very hard to do any work there. People are more concerned with politics than with anything else which made getting any work done almost impossible.
Also, the environment isn't friendly. The people aren't easy to speak with and they don't welcome new comers- especially if you are a contract employee.

I have been working at Maple Leaf Foods full-time

    Pros

You get a pay check every week. You are guaranteed 40 hours a week. You also can get weekends off, that is if you work on days.

    Cons

Unfortunately, the organization at this Company is not good. Machines are always breaking down. Team Leaders are treating the workers very badly.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your workers, to what they have to say. If they need advise on their position, please give it to them. Also do not go following workers down on how long they took on their break, if it is an abuse of breaks then intervene.
