    Pros

The work shift is fixed, not rotational. There is ample overtime and it is only optional. Easy to learn jobs.

    Cons

Very limited career advancement. No hopes for promotion. Your current job will be for life. Management is very old fashioned. They are not very open to modernize facility. Below average compensation and very limited health benefits.

    Advice to Management

Provide more leadership and management trainings and career growth opportunities to employees. Improve compensation and benefits package.

I worked at Maple Leaf Foods full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Good location,
    Flexible work schedule
Competitive rate of pay and decent bonus structure
Better than average vacation time policy

    Cons

    Overwhelming demands
    Poor management decision making
    Bonuses rarely pay out
    Tough to advance
    Budgets are almost always unattainable

    Advice to Management

Focus on building a strong business and keeping employees engaged. Do not delay in decision making and try to keep people from simply spinning their wheels trying to get things done and actually get them moving.

    Pros

A great job to get into marketing and the hours are very flexible. You get a chance to experience different environments; whether it be a store, food events etc. The people are also really awesome to work with.

    Cons

None in particular. Sometimes there isn't as many shifts, but the program is growing.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the good work.

I worked at Maple Leaf Foods full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Work Life Balance is taken seriously, Good Benefits and Pension. Their company values are top notch when Management follows them.

    Cons

Market conditions, 2008 Listeria Outbreak and sale of Canada Bread has caused a radical shift in the Company, mostly in a negative way. Instead of promoting and training from within they simply hire what they need, when they need it.

    Advice to Management

Good Employees are hard to find, go back to the Mentality of the mid 2000's and start following your own Company Values.

I have been working at Maple Leaf Foods full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Depending on shift you get your hours, the pay is good. Benefits are decent. Like I said earlier depending on shift and department, coworkers are generally great to work with. There will always be the 1 or 2 employees that try to bring morale down.

    Cons

Depending on department, management can be inept and not considerate of employees.

    Advice to Management

Need to address the very few bad apples that try to bring morale down and create a toxic environment. Employees who have been there a long time feel like they can get away with bullying and not doing their fair share because they are "buddies" with management.
