I have been working at Mainframe Studios full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    - Good Location (when we worked in studio) - Decent projects - Stable employment, there are lots of TV series in production, with more on the way, many people have been with the studio for years - The studio keeps growing so there are a number of opportunities for advancement - The studio is getting more and more ambitious with the TV series they are producing, and thus the quality level the animation continues to improve - Competitive pay, a bit on the lower side - There are some health benefits - Decent place to learn and grow

    Cons

    - Mainframe’s biggest weak point is - pre production… Very little is ready when a new project launches into full-production, and thus fundamental framework doesn’t get put in place until way late in the production... if ever. - Management appears to be applying old templates from previous basic projects and applying them to new much more ambitious and complicated projects. --- Expecting artists to deliver advanced materials in the same amount of time the studio previously delivered something basic. - Lots of talk about the studio burning out their crew on all the newer projects. (Barbie projects being the exception as they have had more than a decade to streamline things and build up resources)

    Doesn't Recommend

I worked at Mainframe Studios full-time for less than a year

    Pros

HR are nice and helpful. They are trying to do their best work

    Cons

Irresponsible and insecure senior producer who blamed their misdoing on artist. Their sole objective is to look out for themselves, artists are not supported. Very uncool.

I have been working at Mainframe Studios full-time for less than a year

    Pros

    - no micromanaging/babysitting - great artists and coworkers - interesting project

    Cons

i've heard it depends on the show you're on, so, grain of salt for the cons, but in my experience: - they don't offer paid overtime, but then don't have a plan for when people get sick/go on vacation - poor leadership, and condescending management while somehow being also totally ineffectual - feels like leadership doesn't care about the work, depressing and demotivating - poor communication, important information withheld, distrust with management, scare tactics - everything feels bare-minimum: salary, benefits, outdated and cheap equipment/software, which doesn't make you feel very valued

I worked at Mainframe Studios full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Good communication, relaxed and friendly despite having a high animation quota and quality standards

    Cons

Despite high quality and variety the projects are mostly television series so there are time and quality limitations that come with the genre. That being said, you should have opportunities to do excellent animation within those constraints at Mainframe.
