Amazing place to work if you absolutely love the space industry.

      Pros

Work on cool projects that get sent into space. Awesome people. Flexible hours per week.

      Cons

Seemingly lacks any type of merit based promotion system, at least for the entry level engineers. Location isn't ideal, but it makes sense for a building which requires an industrial level lab and clean room.

MDA seems to have turned itself around

      Pros

Coworkers friendly, great work environment. No overtime, but any extra hours worked can be either paid out or used to take time off. This is tracked. Three weeks vacation for an entry level job is great. Company offers many groups and activities for staff to participate in. Recently, increased effort to ensure engineers have a defined career path and career advancement isn't simply lip service. Flexible working hours. Private or shared offices for most staff. Good health plan. Offers subsidized in-house training courses for subjects both specific to radar as well as more generally. Good company to get your feet wet in the business and see how software and systems engineering is done.

      Cons

Base pay is still a little low for starting engineers, although getting straight pay for extra hours worked offsets this. Must do your time to get promoted. Salary transparency is discouraged. Pseudo vitality curve ranking system for engineers.

Great Experience, People and Flexibility but poor pay and Management values!

      Pros

      - Flexible working hours (1.5 overtime if you are on the non-technical side) - Great experience and learning to start, lots of exposure to different aspects of work in short amounts of time - Great personnel and work ethics amongst managers, supervisory staff and even Accounting/Finance personnel who are always willing to help with your numbers!

      Cons

      - Way below average salary than industry standards in Greater Vancouver Area. - Company does not value knowledge, education, and achievements when considering growth and career advancement. - Cafeteria food is nothing but BAD with no improvements nor subsidies for employees!!

      Good Place to Work

      Pros

Cafeteria and gym on-site; flexible work hours; management is easy to talk to and transparent; they organize fun activities like volleyball, soccer, running clubs, etc. Steady, interesting, work. Lots of positive changes have been happening this year.

      Cons

The changes are positive, but change also leads to a lot of uncertainty - things are a bit unsettled. Not a lot of investment in career development/training. Salary and benefits aren't overly competitive. For a high-tech company, a lot of our systems are outdated.

      Recommend
      CEO Approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

      - flexible work hours, were accommodating when I wanted to shuffle days after having babies. - excellent fitness opportunities including gym/studio, classes, and summer volleyball - proper offices for the most part but usually shared - relaxed work environment - interesting projects, good engineers

      Cons

      - salary very poor - feedback yes . . recognition no. - promotions depend highly on being in the right place at the right time, with the right manager - cafeteria isn't so great - big parking issues, overflow is a mile away - long hallways and full offices make for very little natural light throughout the building
