Great Place for growth potential, IF you don't want a personal life...

    Pros

Privately owned business Lots of Growth Potential Opening stores all the time Quarterly Bonuses If your looking to skyrocket thru a career with lots of advancement potential this is the job for you. If you like having a personal life, not so much...

    Cons

No personal life, expected on call at all times, don't expect to see your loved ones, you'll never get to see your kids extra curricular activities... poor compensation for 60+ hour work weeks very poor training Your advised that you'll have 4 day work weeks. Which turn into more, very quickly. If someone calls off, guess who stays a whole other shift? Yeah salary manager. They don't have enough employees, let alone GOOD employees, to run a 24/7 truck stop. Dealing with angry disgruntled Truckers all day and night. Computer system is a joke, constantly having to override and calling card companies to get transactions to go thru. Hourly employees get paid barely minimum wage, so of course they have no drive to work, they're there just to collect a paycheck. They call it "Marketing Manager" but you don't do MARKETING on your shift, your a janitor that works a 12 hour shift, then is expected to stay longer to get your "marketing" done, that you couldn't do during your own shift... Never get any time off, the one person you can switch with works the exact opposite schedule. constantly work nights and weekends...

    Has Potential to be Great

    Pros

They do reward hard work eventually, just have to stay with it. Mostly great people I worked with. Company is getting bigger and stronger.

    Cons

Pay is average but the potential is great. Too bad you have to be there for seven years before you get money!! Really poor work to home life, as a manager you are expected to be on call 24/7 and spent hundreds of 18 plus hour days to make things run. You are staffed with the absolute minimum of personnel so if someone quits, is fired, or doesn't show, then you are screwed! Don't think this is bad company, it's not. They just have a lot of problems to workout and they are growing so fast and making so much money they don't care to change and unfortunately, their store level people suffer for it. Also they promised a last pay check and I never got it.

Worth it for a new grad or someone looking to get experience, avoid otherwise

    Pros

Bonus and profit sharing programs are awesome. Great healthcare plans. Never a dull moment and very fast paced.

    Cons

Antiquated ordering and inventory systems. Still doing cost based accounting, which went out of fashion back in the 80's. IT department is hamstrung by the rest of the company. Ancient, ineffective computer systems (still on XP). Revolving door for employees under you. Oh, and if they call in, the marketing manager has to cover the shift because of the no overtime mantra. Most of the time as a marketing manager you may not get to do any marketing, but you sure will gain experience cleaning showers, toilets and running a register. And the micromanagement gets worse by the minute.

I used to love my job.....

    Pros

The Love's themselves seem like wonderful people. The benefits are great. If you are a man it is soooo easy (probably too easy) to advance. If you like a fast paced environment and are able to multitask then Love's is the place for you! This job is never boring and you never stop learning new things

    Cons

This is a good ol boys club. They like to keep the women in the restaurants and there are shockingly few women in salaried positions on the store side. When i was hired I got many gasps of surprise and a bunch of "wow, a female manager." I was also told by many not to expect to go anywhere. Love's is growing so quickly that we are unable to keep up, as far as management. We are putting people in GM and OM positions without proper training.

    Pros

Establishing core group of hourlys, store runs efficient and can be fun and profitable for all.

    Cons

Consistent descrepencies with manual invoices; archaic ordering and inventory system. Where's the recyclable non profit income from cardboard and plastic? Pray your GM is a teacher, if not, stuck with the vulnerability stigma. Sea gull management approach towards stores, that is, fly in every three months, review prior three months, give lots of notes and fly out.

    Pros

Fast paced environment. Excellent benefits. I work with a lot of wonderful people, both my coworkers and the customers.

    Cons

If you are female, forget about being taken seriously and expect to make less money than a man in the same position. Next to no women in management on store side. I have also seen excellent employees with great potential passed up for promotion due to sexual orientation. We have a lot of wonderful ideas for making all of our jobs easier, but no time to implement them. It's hard to teach people how to work their assigned area when you can't leave the fuel desk.

    Negative affect on overall health....

    Aug 28, 2014 - Marketing Manager

    Pros

Pay rate isn't bad for what is advertised....they don't live up to it though....Potential profit sharing is amazing if you can make it 3-7 years.

    Cons

Recruited for 44-46 hour, 4 day work week.....Received 5 day 50-60 hour work week regularly. 24/7 so rotating shifts occur weekly in spite of their "pledge" for fair and consistent labor scheduling. They care much more for the hourly employee opinions than the welfare of their managers. Ask for a sick, personal, or vacation day and receive an extra work day the next week. Ridiculous....
