I have been working at LifeLabs part-time for less than a year

    Pros

I like working with diversity and meeting other CTAs from different labs. Scheduling now is good because they try their best to give you shifts in your region. Good company benefits and culture. I work at a busy lab but it is very organized so the flow is fast and efficient. I love working here so far... Company has great values and patient care. Definitely better atmosphere than the hospital. Really good New Hire Training...

    Cons

Pay is lower than hospital and we do mostly everything in the Lab. ECGs, Holters, Ambulatory BP, and accessioning.

I have been working at LifeLabs full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Decent hours to work (Monday-Saturday 630-500 variable shifts). Not much else positive to say about this company anymore. Long for the days MDS Metro.

    Cons

Staffing.. Huge issue. Management expects staff to work short all the time.. Schedulers consistently not filling shifts. Poor sick time benefits (only paid 80% of your wage). Getting full time work is difficult, very few full time positions being posted, mostly part time work.

I worked at LifeLabs part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Friendly coworkers Stat holiday pay medical and dental benefits if you are part time or full time

    Cons

-stressful atmosphere -not enough workers scheduled or short at some labs so patient wait time is very long -if you are a casual, expect to be available for the on call shifts in which you may or may not get called and travel to all locations in the lower mainland -expect to automatically know and fulfill the duties of a regular if you are covering their shift -surge of patients coming in 5 minutes before closing and you cannot refuse them -workplace drama - a lot of gossiping, animosity, reporting and backstabbing between fellow employees at certain labs -miscommunication between employees, client service managers and scheduling/hr causing problems
