      Work At Home Telephone Interpreter
Current Employee, less than 1 year
      Buenos Aires
      Recommend
      CEO Approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

Work from home, USD income for foreign workers, lots of experience in the interpretation field is gained, you can work from anywhere as long as you have a quiet environment and a LAN internet connection available.

      Cons

Very poor salary, no paid vacations or holidays, no paid sick days, pretty much no employee protection or coverage, short breaks and the hourly rate is insanely low for the effort the job requires at times and being on the phone around the clock.

English/Spanish (OPI) Over The Phone Interpreter
        Former Contractor
        Recommend
        CEO Approval
        Business Outlook

        Pros

Language Link allowed me to start working as an OPI. I always got my monthly payment on time. Language Link supervisors are kind and respectful. When I received feedback from my supervisors, they were kind and optimistic.

        Cons

The rate payment is 4.5 USD per hour with no payroll, no benefits, and only a bonus for referral. When a remote OPI provided the same performance as a remote OPI in the USA. All breaks are scheduled according to call volume. The interpreter had to wait until the call volume decreased to have lunch.

I interviewed with a company (2 interviews of 1h each) more than 15 days ago. In the company's portal my application shows as "in progress" and I haven't heard back from anyone (HR or interviewers). Is this normal?

      Manager

When sending a post interview follow up email to a hiring manager, is it appropriate to address the manager by first name, or is it more appropriate to use Mr. or Ms. X (assuming they have not invited you to address them informally and that their gender identity is clear)

How do i phrase it on an interview why I'm leaving my current employer after only 4mos due to not being comfortable with the company ethics on how they handle some things? The only reason I am mentioning my current employer on my resume is I want to apply for the same position at a competitor I know is more ethical (confirmed by employees). I don't have much background in this position so I feel putting it down is important when I normally would not for positions held for less than 6 months.
