    I worked at Labatt

    Pros

    - Free Beer ($900 beer card for the year). - Great colleagues, most have good intentions and are not cut throat. - Good location- office oversees the lake.

    Cons

    - Compensation, including bonus is below average for the amount of work you have to do to earn it. - Office space is outdated. If you work in a particular department you will need to take Advil everyday because the noise level is out of control due to how many people are crammed in a small space. - Turn over is high. You won’t meet a person that has been in the same role for more than a year. While some may see... this as a pro it’s actually a very big downfall for the company as no one knows what they are doing. When you ask for guidance the most common answer you will get is “I don’t know”. This makes it very hard to get anything done because no one knows anything. Sink or swim environment! - Benefits are average, nothing special to set them apart from other companies. - Do not have the ability to work from home. They say you are able to but it’s not encouraged. - Merit increases are non existent.

    Cons

Salary compensation doesn't take in consideration every weekend is pretty much spent working

    Advice to Management

I worked at Labatt full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

The people and culture at this organization are incredible. I was surrounded by extremely smart, driven and passionate people every day pushing me to learn more, develop my skill set as a People Business partner and dream bigger.

    Cons

Mobility can factor in and be somewhat limiting in smaller markets. Fast pace isn’t for everyone.

I worked at Labatt full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

There is still a few good team players with good values Since everyone is leaving, there is a lot of opportunities for promotions, even if people are not qualified or experienced for the job

    Cons

Since approximately 3 years, logistics and supply departments are drowning There have been high level directors changes. The new leaders do not care about well being of the employees and are constantly asking for more from every individuals, without giving anything extra. The salary is only increasing if you accept new positions or change city ( you can also seriously threaten to leave, and maybe you will get a... rise) The salary is a joke. They will pay 80% of comparable job on the market. They keep saying the bonus is more generous but is a total lie. They have a dishonest communication about salaries, allowing the company to be in the top 100 company in Canada, based on false company speech The company use very old technologies, so you will not learn new technology there.

    Advice to Management

Take care of the people before they are thinking about leaving Once they accept an offer somewhere else, it is too late to try to catch up Stop taking your people for granted and learn to listen 90% of managers want to quit. Work environment feels bad currently Manage that crisis ASAP or you will loose even more people

I have been working at Labatt full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

PEOPLE - Young and ambitious workforce always looking to improve CULTURE - Work hard, play hard type of atmosphere (if that's your thing) - Opportunity to move quickly (ie change jobs every 12 months) for ambitious workers - Ability to participate in very large projects early on in your career PERKS - Taxable benefit of approx $900/year in beer - Sports tickets always available for those in the Head... Office or in a sales position **I am very hopeful new President Kyle Norrington will improve many things in 2019**

    Cons

PEOPLE - Very little leadership and management training provided resulting in very smart functional managers but very poor people managers - High turnover in Toronto Head Office and slow to replace vacancies puts unnecessary stress on existing employees. HR Team will have a budget that requires vacancies be held for an extended period of time resulting in very little knowledge transfer and unnecessary stress on... existing employees - Clear priority within the organization to move 'Talent Program' hires - Reliance on bonus as part of the core compensation structure. When a full bonus is only paid out 1/5 years it needs to become a much smaller portion of the compensation structure - Salaries in Toronto (and other major cities) are well below competitive and emerging industries. Labatt openly states they target 80% of a National Market Reference and has not moved to a location based reference guide similar to other leading organizations CULTURE - Short term decision making limits the potential for the company. Immediate impact is generally valued more than preparing for or leading towards the future - Ambiguity on career opportunities - communication about opportunities and the path to get there is very limited. You need to rely on who you know, rather than what you know to stay informed - 'Meritocracy' is more about visibility than performance resulting in a competitive workforce and a lot of finger pointing instead of collaboration - Work-Life Balance is a challenge in most roles. People are often stretched due to under-resourcing and not through challenging work. - Difficult work environment for those with a family due to expectation to work well outside of typical 8-hour work day - VERY IMPORTANT: Diversity and inclusion is discussed and spoken about by many leaders but there is still very much a 'Bro' culture at Labatt. Mgmt refuse to take real action to address core issues and Zero Tolerance policies only apply to those individuals not protected by their Bro's on the Management Committee. WORK ENVIRONMENT - Technology projects are not prioritized and result in outdated and very manual processes - ZBB culture and therefore every dollar is scrutinized beyond necessity instead of focusing on bigger impact initiatives. Mgmt will say they do both but waste is seen everywhere and focus will be on ensuring only connecting flights are taken to St Louis vs scaling back on catered lunches for the marketing team

Start living up to the words each Senior Leader speaks regarding taking risks, betting on the future and caring about your employees. Go to bat with the Zone and Global teams to ensure Labatt is competitive as an employer in Toronto and other major cities. Fix the little things that hurt employee engagement and a lot of the bigger issues will go away. Fewer, Bigger, Bolder and Faster!!
