Great place to start your career, but not long term
Feb. 5, 2021 - Planning ManagerRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
1. Lots of opportunities for developing leadership skills and work experience. 2. Hard work doesn't go unnoticed. 3. The People you work with are smart, driven and ambitious 4. Free beer and the downtown office has a Pub; health Benefits are pretty decent but you have to pay for them
Cons
1. Aggressive, sink/swim culture. Huge push on perfectionism 2. Not very competitive salary- Your salary's big portion is bonus, which gets paid out once in 4 years so negotiate a higher base. 3. They operate very lean and the turnover is high, felt like a revolving door 4. Poor work life balance, you are expected to take on more work without any additional pay. Big push on acquisitions so this piles up every year 5. Very focused on outsourcing to India and you have to constantly deal with very sub-par talent over there. 6. If you were not a part of the "`Development Program" you career growth will be very stunted. The Development program folks get precedence over everyone...its not as mertiocracy based environment they claim it to be.

Terrible place to work especially if you're a visible minority
Apr. 9, 2021 - Commercial Manager in Toronto, ONRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Free beer, pub for the employees
Cons
Extremely poor DE&I, demographic is largely white male. The board of execs, president and VP's are all white male. If you're a POC you're expected to single handedly fix their DE&I issues and take it on as a second job. Expect racial slurs to be thrown at you, example South Asian and Arab employees would be greeted with 'hey there's my favorite terrorist'. Extremely poor work life balance, expect colleagues and managers to call you at midnight to get work done and you work long hours 12-14 hour days are a norm. Underpaid compared to market average, their reasoning is because they give high bonuses, however no bonuses have been given in 5 years. Men get promoted based on potential, women get promoted based on experience (and rarely get promoted). Aggressive, unprofessional behavior is rewarded. A lot of bias towards pregnant employees and working mothers. A lot of issues around gender bias and racial bias. Poor benefits compared to other companies, especially if you have a chronic health condition. Mental health and dental benefits are quite low and generally mental health is highly stigmatized within the company itself

Don't be fooled by "Top 100 Employer" status
Mar. 17, 2021 - Marketing in Toronto, ONRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
There are some very talented people employed there who are amazing to work with
Cons
-Misogynistic management: The executive team is so white and so male, though they take great pains to paint a picture for employees that they sincerely want to improve this (they've been saying they "want to learn and do better" for over a year now with pitiful follow-through) - Zero real D&I commitment: They rely on employees to do all the heavy lifting when it comes to Diversity and Inclusion, so prepare for a lot of unpaid labour on top of your demanding position - If you are a woman, you will be talked down to by the hockey bros on the executive team - If you are a person of colour, you will be pulled into company photoshoots and D&I initiatives, whether you ask to be included or not - Work/life balance is non-existent: They tell everyone to "act like an owner," but what they mean is "work all the time but be prepared to be given zero credit for it." -This is just the tip of the iceberg.

Not for everyone
Oct. 6, 2020 - Backoffice Sales Manager in Toronto, ONRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
-Exciting industry that is constantly changing and Labatt is the market leader (by far). -Labatt is not afraid to play offense when needed. M&A and other big moves are always on the table. -Opportunity to take on big projects early on in your career. -Benefit package is average but above average 8% DC pension match. -Very early in inclusion and diversity journey, but open to change under new President and VP of People
Cons
-High turnover on commercial team leads to many vacancies that do not get filled in a timely manner. -Work life balance is unhealthy and not suitable to a family or caregiver lifestyle. -Extreme KPI driven organization leading to competitiveness and finger pointing when projects or results are off-track. -Above average bonuses are only paid out on avg every 5th year (last 2 times were 2015 & 2009). -Openly targets salaries at 80% of market reference (you will never make as much as you would with other leading CPG companies). -Visibility to internal job openings is non- existent and not shared internally. -Data and analytical capabilities not prioritized. Years behind leading CPG companies as Labatt refuses to resource this function appropriately. Disclosure: this review is written by a current employee who is actively looking for a new job with another employer.

Great career experience, no work/life balance
Jul. 27, 2021 - Marketing in Toronto, ONRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Great place to learn a lot about large global organizations and how they operate, good benefits (health, financial, phone), fun perks like gifted products, team events. Fun to work for a company with clout in the industry.
Cons
Lots of red tape, slow processes, difficult to affect change, not diverse (no diverse thinking, no diversity in leadership, little respect for different life stages), bro-y culture, no work/life balance, always short on people resources
