I have been working at La Maison Simons part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Okay discount on items, but also was great that discount could be applied to purchasing gift cards. The people that you would generally work with are great. Staff can be more on the younger end of the spectrum (high school). The older staff are super nice and understanding. Receive benefits after working 6 months (must be in short time or full time status) Standard schedule for full time employees (either working Sunday to Thursday, or Tuesday to Saturday)

    Cons

No longer allowed breaks for shifts less than 5 hours (previously would have a 15 minute breaks when working 4 & 1/2 hour or 4 hour shifts). Must be available to work everyday (no room for negotiation here as of recent months). Part time (8-15 hours/week) employees must be available to work closing shifts on all weekdays and all day Saturday/Sunday. Short time (25 hours/week) and full time (40 hours/week) must be able to work anytime all days of the week. Day off/availability requests are not always approved and not communicated that they are not approved. Performance reviews are supposedly based on hours worked there, however, management does not routinely complete these reviews. Strict dress code (men: full suit, women get more leeway but must wear nylons/stockings all the time, skirts/dresses cannot be shorter than 2 inches above the knee, etc.) Management tends to play favorites regarding dress code, vacation days, etc. No room to advance.
