I worked at Kobie Marketing full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

If you want a job with flexible work/life balance this is your place Efforts are made to make day to day work life nice like free food/etc. The office is nice with good views and downtown location Really great people who bond over the outrageous culture Some teams operate really well

    Cons

Not a "Client first" mentality which causes it to be hard to produce anything truly remarkable for a client Dismissive of new ideas/thoughts/strategies Traditional, unengaged CEO, who you will hear and see but he won't take on tough matters or get into the thick of it with anyone below "leadership" CEO will only truly listen to certain people but he will sit and amuse you Hard to have a long-term career here without someone to protect you from "Leadership." Truly a chess match on who to align/associate yourself with in any given situation and this tends to matter MUCH more than the work produced If you are young in your career, you will not find coaching easily, the ones that try really hard to coach you have other motives

I worked at Kobie Marketing full-time

    Pros

Great people who work hard and care about Kobie, fresh fruit and massages.

    Cons

Leadership has total disregard for how the business truly works. It was stated several times that the Client Service team does not dictate what the call center does. This attitude of separation hurts the business.

    Kobie Marketing Response

    May 1, 2018Kobie Marketing

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. I’m sorry to hear that your experience at the Kobie Contact Center was less than desirable. Unfortunately, we have experienced some legacy issues associated with training gaps and have been working very hard to address this head-on. We’ve been focusing on cross training and upskilling teammates to be able to handle a range of roles. This will not only help provide better work/life balance for our teammates but also meet and exceed client expectations in terms of the service we provide. Thanks to these changes and our ongoing focus on leadership development, I’m confident that we’re headed in the right direction. Please reach out to me via email if you have any other feedback that you’d like to share with me. I wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors. - Bram Hechtkopf, Chief Executive Officer

    Pros

Really great people. Interesting clients. Great location. Management seems to care -- but also not always want to hear the truth.

    Cons

Kobie is really 2-3 companies in one. That is what I experienced as part of the "growing pains" everyone seems to be complaining about. There is a big vision, and trying to do everything "loyalty" without having some of the basics in place. Titles and salaries are not aligned with NY, Chicago, DC -- or any major city.

I worked at Kobie Marketing full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

I no longer work here! Great people and so many great friends. So sad that so many good friends are suffering so badly. Do yourself a favor and do not take a job here, no matter how much you are tempted. Run the other way.

    Cons

Too mach work and too few people. They just keep selling and selling and selling - there just are not even close to enough people to get the work done. No time to fix what is broken. No time for new stuff. Just more clients. Horrible management, from the top all the way down. IT reports to Client Services here, and Client Services has no clue. New managers worse than old. Old ones that are left, even worse than ever imagined. Last years reorg a complete and utter failure. Things are worse than ever, no matter which group you work in. The Four Horsemen jokes seem appropriate now, the apocalypse is near.

    Pros

Many great people with great talent Fun environment Company does great work Company events Good experience working in an agency and with large brands Creativity and collaboration is great between teams

    Cons

Creative management unfortunately does not build its employees for success. The mentality in this department is that everybody is replaceable. The turnover rate is high and and great talent has slipped through their hands. When questioned by other employees no accountability is taken and concerns are dismissed. To their own disadvantage this form of management has now trickled down to the up and coming management for that department. It seems that in order to save their jobs they have to appease their boss and undercut many to make it. Since this industry and agency relies heavily on teamwork a support system is needed and in this case not truly provided.

"Good company that shows a lot of promise. Just needs to work on internal improvements..."

I have been working at Kobie Marketing full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Nice roster of clients. Good eye towards growth and business development. Salaries and bonuses are great for the area. Nice location and offices. Executive team is friendly, industry-savvy and enthusiastic about potential. It's easy to get excited about doing great work and working with some great people on some great brands. Company has a strong history, outstanding technology and a lot of respect, nationally and worldwide. That's nothing to sneeze at in this industry OR this area. Lots of employees have made this their home for a long time and the talent coming in is usually top-notch. That potential and the people here are what gets you excited about joining the company. That being said...

    Cons

Internal account processes are awful. Client Account/Creative Teams need to adopt mandatory account processes and PRACTICE them before the company expects to grow larger. Clients run roughshod over deadlines and deliverables and the Account teams usually only serve to convey requests rather than the difficult task of managing and developing solid client relationships. This results in 6 versions of requests to the same, simple job, instead of 1 round of signed-off updates. Multiply that by 3 accounts and 4 teams and you start seeing a lot of inefficiency. Company security is necessary but overwhelming. The smallest requests (hook up a printer, send large files, install an update, get a mouse, etc) usually results in headaches or dead-ends. Data security is an essential part of the company and their great industry reputation, but it shouldn't feel like a battle to get your job done. The executive team is slightly out of touch when it comes to the daily grind and mood in the trenches. You'll be slammed with deadlines and some execs/ team members will be having piano sing-alongs in the lobby. Or mandatory company meetings devolve into 2 hour marathons of company minutiae. Company could do a better job thinking about it's general appearance and perks. The lobby entrances look great - but are festooned with workout machines (never used), a sad clown sculpture, and not one but TWO of those pianos. That's an odd way of presenting yourself as a creative, industry leader. And it's of zero value to employees who don't play the piano. Invest in an decent interior designer and stop attempting to decorate ourselves. Aside from 24-7 piano access, benefits are decent but could always stand to be improved. It'd be nice to have something more substantial than free popcorn when deadlines land on you that stretch into the night. The same people are usually stuck working when the rest of the company is leaving early or celebrating. Depts need some flexibility to alleviate their specific personnel issues.
