I have been working at Klick full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great place to start a first job. Lots of perks like free food and events. Great people culture.

    Cons

Lots of overtime work, sometimes with no compensation. Not a lot of room for growth or horizontal movement. Huge range in salary for the same role and responsibilities.

I worked at Klick full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Very successful and aggressive sales, marketing and PR machine. This translates to very good revenue. Revenue that upper management and SLT (senior leadership team) can use to gift themselves with "offsites" to exotic and extravagant places and cruises.

    Cons

The PR and marketing is not only on behalf of its clients. It is also weaponized to market itself specially to its own employees. There is an abundance of hyperbole and hype on every little gimmicks they come up with to make themselves look like a cool place to work for like Google or Facebook. And it does work as more than a handful of employees actually "drink the cool-aid". They aim to build a cult like culture and is very evident with the yearly holiday season "town hall". This includes getting rid of yearly bonuses in December for most employees (except for the upper management or the "in" crowd). This was replaced with a $500 "holiday gift" (eg: iPad, fancy hairdryer, tech gadgets) which is given a lot of hype and suspense. For many, this replaced a bonus of around $1,500 to $2,000. Do the math. But then again, this marketing and PR ploy does work as many employees are excited about what it could be this year. Externally, Klick's PR machine produces paid "news articles" to various publications to make itself look good (best place to work for, charitable donations, innovation, etc). Here on Glassdoor, you will find a lot of 5 star ratings with one liner reviews with words like "awesome", "great", and "cool. These are likely to be posted by new employees "encouraged" by their manager to post a review. If you are in tech, you will be sad to discover that this place is very weak on software practices. Nobody thinks about data structures, modeling, or algorithms. Hacking is the cool thing to do. The more clever the hack, the better the anecdotes to tell. If you are in the creative field (design, editorial, etc), you'd think a successful marketing firm is a good place for you. Unfortunately, it is a revolving door of turnovers as it is managed very poorly as well. A lot of favoritism and cronyism here (and this is rampant throughout the company). Although the guy who used to "manage" this department has finally been moved somewhere where he can do less harm.

I have been working at Klick full-time

    Pros

Klick does a great job in preserving a fun culture with positive, like-minded people. Met a lot of people who I could now call friends. Pays more on the agency front.

    Cons

Questionable promotions where others will get promoted because of lack of standards and very subjective. 'Top-heavy' where there are a lot of senior management who aren't necessarily required to be there.

I have been working at Klick full-time

    Pros

    - Free snacks, large events & trips that the company spends a lot of money on. - Ignorance is bliss there if you can live like that. - Great company if you're a robot and can work 12 hours a day and not ask questions.

    Cons

    - Promotions are given to low-knowledge team members to be people managers VERY quickly, who don't do the work, just follow in suit, share zero opinions themselves and don't question anything. Power structures shift very quickly and lots of pressure laid upon the people doing the work, sure it is to managers too which is reflected back to the teams. - Lots of people there chasing titles and titles shift constantly (do their responsibilities though? Never sure), make sure you check Gnome to congratulate the daily shifts! It's a full-time job in itself to keep up appearances. - Low feedback given on career growth or role changes, very difficult to get anywhere if your manager doesn't like you, changes do happen daily though in the background and seems with no rhyme or reason with low communication to anyone involved. - Scale for the sake of scale, but a large turnover rate - new people would come in weekly to much excitement and others would disappear with barley an email, very robotic process when really it's HUMANS you're dealing with throughout the company and bet the IT team knows more about what's going on there than half the employees. Really interesting to see how this company treats the people who leave vs those who are new employees. Oh, there's no HR too, or it gets shifted every few weeks to some new title itself, so good luck talking to anyone. - Any feedback conveyed to higher-ups or questions on issues is pushed under the rug and success working there depends 100% on the team you're in and if your manager actually cares about you and can talk to you, instead of just trying to save themselves.
