I worked at Kansas State University part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

It a fantastic place to work. Great people, great environment, and excellent experience.

    Cons

Like any job, there will be difficult people, but otherwise it was great.

    Advice to Management

Hire more relevant people. My boss had a Ph.D but he did not know what farmers did with wheat tillers. He did rice research in the Philippines. Working at an AG school in the Midwest, wheat knowledge is a must.

I have been working at Kansas State University part-time

    Pros

Lots of opportunities to advance and to learn. Education benefits really help you take more classes that you would want to learn about.

    Cons

I do not have any cons about working for Kansas State University. I love what I do and enjoy working for the school.

    Advice to Management

I think the management does a great job and has enough on their plate with the budget. I do not think I need to add any advice.

I worked at Kansas State University full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good people. Limited evening and weekend hours.

    Cons

Zero budget. Resorted to selling scrap wire to buy tools. Wasn't allowed to hire my own staff. Was never asked to run shows. No summer job or pay.

    Advice to Management

Less emphasis on speech, more emphasis on theatre. Let people do what they are good at.

I worked at Kansas State University full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great boss and students, supportive staff. Good work with autonomy and resources.

    Cons

The university administration struggles to deal with post-docs. There was some tick in the way summer pay was provided that meant payroll deductions doubled up in the spring, but the details kept changing from year to year so it was hard to plan around.

    Advice to Management

Figure out what a post-doc is, make a policy to cover their compensation, and stick to it. Please.
