I have been working at KPMG

    Pros

International and global opportunities. Exposure to wide range of business entities and practices. Some really great people are there. Some wide ranging tools and learning opportunities available.

    Cons

Edmonton office is severely dysfunctional. Corporate values are talked about but the reality is that every Partner operates their own little personal fiefdom. No standards, no process consistency. Very unsupportive of personality.

    Advice to Management

do what you say you are going to do

    Pros

Vibrant and young culture. Hours were long but they treated the employees well. A lot of social events.

    Cons

I worked at KPMG full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Overall good company culture. They offer good training resources and opportunities for professional development. They opened a new training facility in Orlando.

    Cons

Management is not open to new ideas. They love SALY (Same as last year); this stifles innovation and advancement. If you are placed with a bad team life will suck. It is hard to move to a different group or business function. KPMG says you can move to a different group, but in reality it is difficult. Public accounting experiences high turnover, so don’t expect anyone to be fully invested in you staying or growing..., especially if you are not a manager. Good luck to minority employees. You will face many more challenges. Senior management will treat you fairly, but lower level employees will not. Keep a good support system/network.

    Advice to Management

Be open to ideas and suggestions from lower level staff. Be humble and care about your people.

I have been working at KPMG full-time

    Pros

The people are great and the PTO policy is generous. There's also a lot of opportunity to participate in different projects. It seems like management is doing more with trying to retain employees with initiatives to work from home on Fridays, be albe to wear jeans everyday in the office, and be able to leave early on Fridays during the summer.

    Cons

Having a busy season/seasons. However, that is expected of public accounting. The technology can also use improvement (which can be said about most non-tech companies, including other Big 4)

    Advice to Management

Keep up with exploring new initiatives to retain employees as you have been doing
