I have been working at John Lewis & Partners full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Working at John Lewis Exeter has been the most enjoyable job I’ve ever had! It’s the first job I’ve had where I enjoy my work, which makes such a difference to enjoy your job! Management are helpful, approachable and there’s plenty of opportunities to share your thoughts with them. The office is open plan and means that you can easily talk to managers and interact with them. They always do their best to respond to concerns of partners, and action change. Managers are entrusting on staff to use their initiative, and don’t micromanage. The working environment is great, most partners are friendly and helpful. The canteen provides reasonable food at a great price throughout the day. I have been exceptionally impressed with my employer throughout the corona pandemic. I was fortunate enough to receive full pay whilst having time off, the branch manager posted a diary update every single day of lockdown. This simple measure allowed partners to feel connected, and up to date throughout the time off. John Lewis also provides great benefits/discounts for being a partner, these perks make the job even better.

    Cons

Customers are allowed to take the michael of JL’s great customer service. They are on a daily basis returning items that are years old, or most annoyingly have clearly been used/opened and the customers are then returning these items! These are slipping through the net with green van collections, and managers approving returns in store to uphold customer service etc.
