I have been working at John Lewis part-time

    Pros

Good team who are always open, bonus and discount scheme very useful once you get it!

    Cons

No commission meaning people who earn the same may not work the same

    Advice to Management

Scrap the bonus idea and bring in commission, it might mean people work harder

I have been working at John Lewis full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

John lewis don't discriminate between ages when paying employees. There are lots of places we can use our discount. Employee discount is 25% or 12% on electronics and 15% in waitrose.

    Cons

It's really hard to progress, so staff come and go a lot. It's really hard to get onto any courses which will help you progress.

    Advice to Management

See every partner as someone looking to develop, the longer you leave them in a selling assistant role, the more they lose interest.

I have been working at John Lewis full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Stable company, a lot you can be involved in.

    Cons

You definitely do the level above you for about a year before you can get promoted. A lot of restructures mean you are doing the level above you for a very long time. Still when you are promoted you are ahead of the market.
