    Doesn't Recommend

I worked at Jack Astor's full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Tips are pretty good for the style of restaurant Co-workers make great friends

    Cons

Customers are often abysmal and managers will bend over backwards to appease them Training is disorganized Even when you book off work and it has been agreed to, you'll often get scheduled and it's "your problem" Managers either micro-manage or are nowhere to be found The corporate aspect is more of a hurdle than help They will take your Self Serve Card and refuse to give it back If you're good at your job, don't...

  7. "Server"

    StarStarStarStarStar
Current Employee - Server in London, ON

I have been working at Jack Astor's part-time for less than a year

      Pros

Shifts definitely go by quick, as it is a very busy, high-volume, quick turnover restaurant. Working here will build your interpersonal skills. The company wants you to be yourself and let yourself shine.

      Cons

The long hours can be tiresome, especially day after day. Days can get hot on the patio.

      Advice to Management

Listen to your team, they work for you and you also work for them. Listen to what they're asking for and they will give you what you need.

        Doesn't Recommend
        Negative Outlook
        No opinion of CEO

        I worked at Jack Astor's full-time

        Pros

-Fun coworkers -Good learning experience -Good music

        Cons

-Unprofessional comments made by management daily -Questionable hiring practices (Im sure you can guess the criteria for working here) -Favoritism and a large staff means your hard work will not be noticed or rewarded unless you are friends with management in your personal life -2 hour shifts, not being paid for a total of 3 hours (illegal!)

        Advice to Management

Overall management was unprofessional at this location (front and university) but then again this company is not known for its professionalism. Working here can be a good learning experience but I would not recommend to a friend unless they have a thick skin. The right personality CAN thrive here
