    I have been working at J D Wetherspoon full-time

    Pros

Working for Wetherspoon helped me grow my self confidence along with team work and individual skills. It's easy to get along with your colleagues and things are dealt with professionally regardless of whom you're friendly or not friendly with.

    Cons

It can be stressful, on times where there's not enough staff on, or it's extremely busy but the challenge was always good.

I have been working at J D Wetherspoon full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    The team spirit is excellent
The entry level pay is great

    Cons

It’s really hard even in smaller pubs, floor work is tiring

    Advice to Management

Don’t cut pub’s allocated hours. There’s been many times that we’ve been severely understaffed while also having been asked to cut about 20% of our hours overall

    Pros

    Effective training
    Job Stability
    Stable working structure
    Great career track

    Cons

Staff are not paid enough, including salaried managers
There is no work home balance if you are looking to progress
It can become a very repetitive and stressful environment to work in full time

    Advice to Management

Don't forget to look after your managers, they might not make up the bulk of the workforce but they are the drive and motivation in the company. They commit a lot to ensure that the business thrives.

    I worked at J D Wetherspoon part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Management very considerate of your working shifts and basically allow you to give them your availability and will keep your shifts as constant as the business allows.
Discount on food on and off shift. No bar experience required which is great. Fun environment with a young staff base even if it is very busy at times, hard work pulling pints and clearing tables won't kill ya

    Cons

Millennials. BEAWARE of them. Lots of generation Y in employment there as it is a young staff base (the nature of the job). While a lot of the staff are very hardworking and appreciate having a job,..some get very comfortable and believe that when management ask them to complete a task that its not fair or its unreasonable for the management of even Team Leaders to do so. Very frustrating working with those that have never experienced hard work and expect everything to be easy for them. That's why a lot that leave for another job come crawling back when they realise how good they had it here.

    Advice to Management

Nothing at pub level, there is a good level of expectation and the pub manager will always help push you to get the best out of you. At a company level I think there needs to be more appraisals with the management team..there are some good young managers there but I know the company have lost a few due to not feeling supported enough by the upper end of the hierarchy.

    I worked at J D Wetherspoon part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The job was very mixed and varied. Plus, hours suited myself.

    Cons

You are expected to remember a LOT of things. Even if you were just Floor Staff, you are expected to know the full bar range etc.
