I have been working at J.B. Hunt full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

It has bolth local and reganal work but rail here is slow. No back houls. All out bound. So long days.

    Cons

Very long days low pay. I average 750 a week for about 65 hours a week.

    Advice to Management

Find back houls. They need a yard staff. Manage loads better.

I have been working at J.B. Hunt full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

The lower level people, the ones that do all the heavy lifting, have been a joy to work with. These are the people that keep this company alive. Safety culture here is also top notch!

    Cons

There is a lot of lip service where upper management just says what you want to hear to get the conversation over with. It is awful how they make promises and then don't follow through on it. It happens far too often and has led many people to look else where for employment.

    Advice to Management

Follow through with what you say you are going to do. There are too many empty promises being made and it does not look good for the company.

I have been working at J.B. Hunt full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Upper management is focused on all the wrong things.

    Cons

Overworked (required 9 or 10 hour days with no lunch breaks).
    Underpaid (compensation well below competitors).
Benefits are horrible (high deductibles, etc).
Zero work/life balance. You are expected to eat/sleep/breathe JB Hunt.

    Advice to Management

    Offer COLA wage increases.

I have been working at J.B. Hunt full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

There are pockets of really good people that are a lot of fun to work with. There is also the opportunity for growth within the organization, especially if you are willing to relocate.

    Cons

JB Hunt talks a good game when it comes to taking care of people, but fails miserably in execution. For example, I work in HR, it is June, and I still have not received my annual performance review from last year.

Turnover is high throughout the organization, and the people that are leaving are often the high-quality people we need to keep. There are a lot of promotions, but they are promoting from the leftovers. So, the best of the worst keeps moving up. Example-Recently we rehired somebody who had been terminated for sexual-harassment, and put them in a higher position and they were terminated from!

Though I enjoy the people I work with and have been here for several years, I plan to leave as soon as I can find a viable job elsewhere.

    Advice to Management

Profits are great, but not at the expense of good people; and there is no justification for the horrible hiring decisions like the one mentioned above. Currently human resources rolls up to the chief financial officer. Consider hiring a chief human resources officer who will see people as more than just an expense, and who will invest in making this company what it could be.

I have been working at J.B. Hunt (More than a year)

    Pros

Good starting salary. Opportunity to advance ESP if you are willing to relocate. Solid benefits, 401k match. Company is always looking to advance and improve operations.

    Cons

Long hours. Annual pay raises and promotion raises are a joke. Bonus plan constantly changing seems to screw its employees.

    Advice to Management

    Get rid of office politics.
