      Bad culture good people

      Pros

      - The majority of the people who you work with are very bright and pleasant to be around. That would make sense given the way Imperial interviews people. - The Imperial name is still very much respected in the industry - If you get to work a novel project, the work can be quite interesting

      Cons

      - The culture is bad. Everyone is afraid of challenging the system no matter how inefficient it is because of the ranking system. - The company is slowly losing its reputation. A lot of lying and false information from management during COVID downturn - A lot of the times it's a lot paper pushing and different hoops to jump around to get something done

      Pros

The work is rewarding and we are treated well as employees.

      Cons

Lots of shortcuts on Equipment Strategys. Lots of PM overdue and equipment running to failure. Lower Pay than competition.

      Slow Company

May 8, 2023 - Reservoir Engineer in Calgary, AB
      Recommend
      CEO Approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

There is really not that much positive about this company.

      Cons

If you are visible minority, there is no chance of promotion for you. Ranking system is so useless, it is really not based on your performance, it is about if company wants to give you some raises or not. Supervisors and manager are so disconnected with technical work and more they are acting like a HR agent. Generally, good and smart technical people still do technical work while some useless people are promoted to managerial roles

      A ok company

      Business Outlook

      Pros

Ok pay, ok benefits. Sometimes you can get WLB depending on what position/role you are in

      Cons

The ranking session is frustrating. You will never be good enough if you are not identified and climbing the ladder.

      Pros

Supervisors do not share expectations or feedback

      Cons

The HR department is a joke. They can fire people without consideration for years of service. They are biased and racist.

      Pros

I was able to enjoy more than 3 different roles in my tenure, which enabled me to expand my knowledge in my field tremendously.

      Cons

Career paths have been limited and with the most recent org structure in my field, salaries have been drastically reduced due to the new compensation matching.
