I have been working at Iceland Foods part-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Good pay, 10% discount, opportunities to climb up the buisness

    Cons

Store hours are directly related to sales. No sales, no hours. Gotten tough recently but thats more just retail just now rather than iceland specific.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your staff. They are your best resource.

    Positive Outlook
    No opinion of CEO

I have been working at Iceland Foods part-time for less than a year

    Pros

-Manager listens and shows concerns for your life -Flexibility for part timers -Wage is better than most retailers -Smaller geographic area covered compared to other retailers such as ASDA, Saninsbury -Good colleagues who get along well in times of pain and glory

    Cons

-Unreasonable amount of deliveries, at times, to do within 2 hours. Subsequently, customers then complain about late deliveries. -Inflexible route selection which means sometimes furthest customers get the orders earliest and no customisation feature in the PDA -No help except your driver colleagues in sorting out deliveries and a manager if he deems so -Vans untidy and unmaintained, whilst repairs are very slow... to come if logged in. A blame between VMS and Iceland is seen. -Not paid for preparing your van checks when commencement of the shift and organising your deliveries during loading time. -Often starting early but not finishing early as time is taken for aforementioned reason for the first run. -Inconsistent amount of deliveries e.g. can be 13-12 with flats then you are done for and catching up on time will be hard or 8-9 which is doable. -Broken eggs are a problem due to shortage of time and demand and at times in summer frozen can get melted

    Advice to Management

-There needs be a algorithm in software for apportioning quantity of deliveries according to number of drivers. At the moment any amount of online deliveries can come which can make the road run miserable and stressful as customer delivery needs to be on time. -Repair the vans, don't blame new drivers for the mistake of previous drivers. -Change of the 2 hour structure of deliveries to 2 hrs 30 min which should... give ample of time to load and finish deliveries on time. -Pay for overtime. This job is not starting early and finishing early especially during the winter when it gets super busy. -Set frozen temperature for all items that makes driver loading time smoother and van space more wider

I worked at Iceland Foods full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Colleague engagement aplenty and lots of opportunity to get involved with charity initiatives. Staff discount for stores and IRC discount for head office staff. Colleagues are nice and that’s across all departments. Work is varied and interesting.

    Cons

Department director absent a lot and didn’t seem interested. Chaotic management, lots of things last minute and a lack of planning at times (eg tight deadlines which could be avoided). Not enough staff leading to long working hours for some. No consistency across departments (eg career development schemes open to some depts but not all).

    Advice to Management

Lack of women in leadership roles speaks volumes.
