I have been working at IFC full-time for more than a year

    Pros

You rarely get to work in an organization where you get to see impact in the poorest of communities. This is satisfying. Compensation and Benefits is totally competitive for majority of the career streams. The workforce is rich and diverse.

    Cons

Decision making can be painfully slow. Culture change is difficult given that a majority of the staff population has been in IFC for a long while. Promotions/Career progression opportunities are limited.

    IFC Response

    September 20, 2019Talent Attraction Officer

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. Indeed, many companies struggle with culture change, as it is possibly one of the most difficult challenges for any large organization. Harvard Business Review has written extensively about this topic, and we face this challenge at the IFC as well. Nevertheless, we can assure you that our team is working on providing more career opportunities for our staff and has recently reintroduced split grades and more mobility options. The way we see it, the more options offered, the better equipped our staff will be to take their careers forward. As for millennials, there are a number of millennial groups that have been formed these past few years. All of them have a senior management sponsor who advices and is there to listen to their ideas. Our advice would be to join one of those groups, if you have not already, and work with them to propose feasible solutions to everyday problems. Again, thank you for your feedback and we look forward to continue improving lives and uplifting communities!
