I have been working at IFC full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Great franchise. Great work exposure and opportunity to expand into different mandate and regions. Incredible organisation to learn and have a sense of transforming individuals and communities.

    Cons

Very political. HR function is very weak and there is lack of transparency in job promotion. Currently undergoing various transitions with limited strategic buy-in internally and leadership challenges, particularly in some regions.

I have been working at IFC full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Lots of opportunity to learn. Lots of opportunity to do development work that is linked to the private sectors in developing countries. Very good salary and benefits for the hours you put in. Good health benefits, vacation etc

    Cons

New capital increase means some people at the lead or manager level have been asked to leave while those at junior levels will face difficulty moving up. So, much slower promotion and no more "promotion as a reward for an excellent job". Also, year end review is close to random. This leaves otherwise strong employees earning an average rating, and average rating means no award (bonus) and potentially no promotion down the road.
