      Pros

Worked with P&C department through a co-op. Lots of opportunity to learn, but lots of independance. Would recommend all qualified to apply.

      Cons

Slow procedure to get any work done. Unionized to work is completed according to the clock, and not in the interest of getting the job done quickly while not sacrificing

Hydro One-Generally a good place to work

      Pros

Attractive salary, pension and benefits package Great people - colleagues are intelligent and fun to work with Company treats employees fairly Good work life balance in most areas of the company Opportunity to work in a variety of jobs Interesting industry which is constantly changing. Employees are constantly learning. Although Hydro One is a crown corporation it is run like a commercial enterprise and not a government department. Very supportive of allowing staff to take courses/training to improve their skills and develop

      Cons

Poor performers are not removed because the company tries to be overly fair and also 90% of staff are unionized. Can be demotivating when you are working long hours but then you see poor performers that do not do their jobs suffer no consequences. Owned by Ontario government - strategy/direction of the company can change every time a new government is elected or a new Minister of Energy is appointed. Like every company your job satisfaction is closely tied to your immediate supervisor. There are members of Senior Management that are micro managers and do not give their staff any freedom to do their jobs. This type of micromanagement is very demotivating. Bureaucratic and risk adverse
