I worked at Husky Injection Molding Systems full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Salary, bonus and pension are decent.

    Cons

It is a very old fashioned company that is very paranoid about IP. They won't allow work at home, flex hours or remote work. You can only wear jeans on Friday. You do not have admin privileges for your computer. IT is slow and overwhelmed. Employees only have access to their immediate area. You need to get permission with a good reason to access anything else. The company is very very siloed. There is no trust.... Management and C level is very much an old boys club, with the majority of them starting out together 20-35 years ago and so they promote each other. Almost none of them have worked for any other company and therefore have no clue how well functioning companies work. There is only one woman in the C level suite representing HR. It's like stepping back in time. The company does not have ongoing training programs. It doesn't do anything to try and retain talent. It's owned by a private equity company that cares about making money instead of investing in trying to improve the company. The CEO has been there for over 35 years and hates change. If you take a job here, do not stay long.

    Advice to Management

Fire or retire most of the management. The CEO needs to go before any innovative change can to this company.

I worked at Husky Injection Molding Systems full-time for less than a year

    Pros

The benefits are spectacular, even after the layoffs and the cuts, still better than many places that I have worked. The on-site daycare is amazing, and the food is great. On-site gym and massage therapist. Like acting or politics, if you make it there, you have a good life. Also like acting, for every success story, there's dozens of failure stories.

    Cons

It's the most dysfunctional, political, numbers-driven place I've ever been. Day 1 you sign a waiver to exceed the provincial max for overtime. If you don't, start looking for another job. A very strict environment, be at your desk early or get written up. Use that on-site massage therapist and it goes overtime? Get written up. 4-hour meeting with 30 people in a small room with the door closed, so you excuse... yourself to pee and stretch your legs? Written up. Everything there involves the managers treating you like a subordinate; my manager skipped a critical supplier meeting on my 3rd day to get his weekly massage, leading to a mixup with confidential material, and I got dragged in front of HR on my 4th day. The politics between departments and between levels of management are almost cartoonishly bizarre. People said not to apply there, but I was swept up in the amazing benefits and pay. But it was a horrible experience that ended with a group layoff, and not too soon.

    Advice to Management

No advice, nobody could ever change that place. The values portrayed in the company literature are skin deep and only for show.

I worked at Husky Injection Molding Systems full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

The people at Husky make the experience rich, fulfilling and worth it. There is some flexibility in hours, a strong culture of achievers, good work ethics, an emphasis on health & wellness and plenty of roles to keep you motivated when you're ready to move laterally or upwards.

    Cons

Stressful at times, lots of focus on cost-containment as a priority and less emphasis on environment and corporate social responsibility over the last few years.

    Advice to Management

Remember that the environment and planet are here for the long run. Let's do our part to protect them and push the products that are right for the future.
