I worked at Hudson's Bay Company full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

The people, the history, and the ability to move around and try new things. Hbc is rich in culture, and being a part of it comes with a great deal of pride. I loved working here. The best part by far, was the wonderful people. The working environment is laid back and casual, and it feels like family.

    Cons

The processes often get in the way of doing good business. They are restrictive and often force bad business decisions that could be avoided if not for a process being in the way.

    Advice to Management

Management may need to listen more to the people directly involved in the day to day business, who make and are directly responsible for the life and death of their business.

    Advice to Management

    - Should treat junior level employees better and on the same level as everyone else - better communication with your employees, i find empoyees are always out of the loop - find ways to keep your employees happy and motivated

I worked at Hudson's Bay Company full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - some nice co-workers - they introduced free tea and coffee finally - Olympics is shown throughout the office - some good sales are held in the Atrium

    Cons

    - no company morale - they like to promote their laziest employees while the hard workers are overlooked - everyone eats lunch at their desk and they judge you if you actually take your lunch - senior management is so out of touch with the work that employees do and they don't care because they don't have to do any of the grunt work

    Advice to Management

DON'T ASK FOR FEEDBACK IF YOU'RE NOT GOING TO LISTEN TO IT. YOUR EMPLOYEES KNOW WHICH CHANGES WILL SLOW DOWN PRODUCTIVITY AND WHEN THEY TELL YOU, PASS THE MESSAGE ON TO SOMEONE WHO CAN MAKE CHANGES. DON'T SAY, "TOO BAD, YOU'RE JUST GOING TO HAVE TO ACCEPT IT." THEN WHY ASK FOR FEEDBACK IN THE FIRST PLACE?

I have been working at Hudson's Bay Company full-time for more than a year

    Pros

-Pay relatively well -Meet a lot of people -Hiring younger staff for home office -Get some good experience

    Cons

-Very little room for growth -Leaders not willing to develop those who report to them -Promises of advancement from HR are not followed through -Have training and development activities and plans in place just to keep you busy, but very little actual advancement -It's in Brampton

    Advice to Management

You will be able to better retain staff if you actively participate in their development instead of withholding information, or we will try and find it somewhere else, either in a different position in the company or a different company all together. HR is not fooling anyone with all these training programs, we all know Executive Trainees are promoted first, and most of the time, the company hires from outside instead...

I have been working at Hudson's Bay Company full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Management/HR is trying to create a better corporate culture by adding more celebratory events, more communication with upper management, but needs more recognition of assistant level employees

    Cons

Poor development path. Growth opportunities and regulations seem to be constantly changing - claim to promote internally but majority of jobs come from external hires which lowers employee morale. Minimum vacation, work is monotonous, repetitive, and unchallenging. Direction seems to change constantly and everything ends up being a last minute scramble

    Pros

Work life balance is good, open culture, good people. Flexible office timing.

    Cons

Salary is below industry standards. You have to leave the company and join back if you need increase your position. Not much of attention is given to growth within the company from HR Side - Your growth depends on your manager. Change is the new constant here - every six month something or other goes on.

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to people who want to grow
