      Pros

High growth opportunity especially in Ontario, lots of new learning

      Cons

The toughest challenge in the position is human resources training especially with Home Depot’s high employee turnover, thats greater than industry standard, therefore its always a challenge to train employees to acceptable standards, especially with the store being a DIY specialist, and consumers expectation of a knowledgeable employee. Slightly Lower salary.

Great option for zero experience work.

      Pros

If you're working overnights, your mostly only working with others who know the job, allowing you to learn the basics of warehousing on top of experience with lift equipment. You're mostly unbothered by the retail side of stores with the benefit of making more than other retail places.

      Cons

Lack of opportunities towards securing full time, let alone trying to step up from nights. Lack of change towards notably bad employees.

New employees attitude is minimum wage equals minimum work

      Pros

Stability in any type of economy. Great place to work as a new associate if you don't mind making minimum wage for hard physical labor. You can get a forklift license while making minimum wage 14/h then leave for a better job.

      Cons

Trying to work with new associates who know nothing, don't want to learn much and take 3 hours to do a 30 min job is beyond frustrating. To make matters worse, management doesn't give much in the way of wage incentives so after 14 years with the company associates are only making 17 to 18/h with department supervisors making 18 to 20/h thats not a living wage for the amount of physical labor, stress and work schedules that state must be available for all weekends and holidays. Bottom line: they don't accommodate, they treat long time associates like crap forcing them to seek employment with higher wages elsewhere.

      Pros

Home Depot does really make an effort to live by its values to support employees. Lots of opportunity for internal movement and growth.

      Cons

Can take a bit of time to get the culture here which is very focused on supporting associates and customers and has a bit of a bias towards operational execution vs. strategic planning.
