RecommendsPositive OutlookNo Opinion of CEOI worked at Hoare Lea full-time for more than a year
Pros
- An excellent learning opportunity for a Graduate - Well organized seminars and CPD opportunities - CPD is well structured and the path to Seniority is well defined - The people who work here are simply grade A great people (there will be the sharks though, see cons) - Great social side, people are generally very nice here - Incredibly professional attitude - as a first job, you will learn a lot - Interesting clientele and projects - A great name within the industry
Cons
- The work load, were do I start?! As a graduate you will be expected to complete your learning records in order to gain CIBSE recognition, this essentially becomes homework, something I came to resent after some time. Next to this is the actual day to day work. The first six months is a slow enough ramp up, but after this, multiple senior engineers will descend upon you with Spec jobs, CAD jobs and everything in between. This why I gave it my title "work hard and win", the hard work does eventually pay off. - The atmosphere can feel charged and competitive at times with people trying to get ahead of one another. This is a challenge to some, and a threat to others... its simply a matter of perspective. - Travel and on site experience can be painfully slow to get offered. I always found this strange, as the on site experience is where you learn the most. On top of this, it only counts for one day and a train ticket into London. - Some managerial decisions can appear a bit aloof and un-discussed with staff. We had an entire office relocation to a site a few miles away. Plenty of lead time was given but it was not presented as an option.

Cons
Typical of the Engineering sector, work loads can get high. The pay could also improve to align with industry better.
