I have been working at Heineken for less than a year

    Pros

    - Great international experience, with people coming from every part of the world - People within the company are mostly nice and it is a pleasure to spend time with them - Cool office and funny Friday drinks

    Cons

    - As an intern, you are not really involved in the company’s activity. You are mostly given simple and superficial tasks - Almost impossible to be promoted to a full time position - The company does not help you at all finding an accommodation (which is really difficult in the Netherlands) and the intern salary is low

    Advice to Management

Involve more the interns in your daily activities and let them take some real responsibilities

I worked at Heineken for less than a year

    Pros

Interns are at the heart of activities and have different functions, the management is based around laissez faire which gives you a lot of opportunities to come with new ideas, bring value to your work. In my opinion you should be proactive, do what you think is right, dutch people are straight forward but they lack communication sometimes they might not tell you the obvious, just be yourself and be creative !... Every Friday is beer day, at 5pm clean your desk and enjoy free beers for 2 hours, take this opportunity to chat with managers from others offices, and other interns, you will meet new people who you might go out with afterwards, and it will develop your network ! (also : use the facebook company page to create a network and to look for job opportunities or career growth) People who work there are amazing, at all levels, from waiters (props to them for being so friendly, and wonderful people to discuss with) to top managers, they inspire you and are open to discussions.

    Cons

Lack of communication, lack of extra work activities, managers are too often busy to look at what interns have to say or what they do. Beers give me headaches. Avoid the cantina if you are not familiar with dutch cuisine : Mainly sandwiches, fish with onions, create your own salad and fat juicy meals. Props to the cuisine staff for being so nice though.

    Advice to Management

Interns and employees are the heart of the company, not only will they bring new ideas and incentives projects on the table but they are the brand's Ambassadors, give them more extra work activities (Running groups, football teams, gym subscriptions,...) and create an app or a facebook page so that people can subscribe and join in ! Also give interns time to work on their thesis or to do their homework, Friday is... usually pretty casual so that would be great to let them work from home or to allow them to work a few hours during the day !

I worked at Heineken for less than a year

    Pros

    - Iconic products - International environment - Good Parties - Overall smart people - Great Amsterdam location

    Cons

-The quality of internship depends only by your team, if you are lucky you can cool tasks, while if you are unlucky you risk to not do anything whatsoever. -Small salary - Almost 0 chance to get promoted even if you are a top performer - Very high interns turnover

    Advice to Management

Work on more clear and transparence internship program and invest in interns. You just invest in the graduate programme fellows which are recruited by 3rd-party agencies.
