I have been working at Heartland Dental full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great culture, they practice what they preach. I am well supported with education, training, and technology, and systems that enable me to provide world-class care to my patients. I have a healthy work-life balance that I could not achieve as a private practice owner trying. To figure it out on my own. When our practice was closed for 8days because we lost electricity when Hurricane Irma came through Florida, Heartland payed myself and my team members, even though the practice wasn’t open.

    Cons

No company is perfect, but I have never belonged to one that cares so much about its employees

    Advice to Management

Keep caring! Don’t ever lose sight of your mission and vision, or it will change the culture and Heartland will lose what makes it special.

I have been working at Heartland Dental full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Plenty of CE opportunities.
    Transparency
Offers opportunities for growth and accommodates relocation
    Encourage ownership mentality
Enough flexibility to help patients in need
    Encourages community involvement
Provides the latest tools and technology (diode laser, diagnodent, intraoral cameras, digital scanners, etc.)
Positivity and hard work pays off
    Excellent company parties/comference

    Cons

Not exactly a con for me as most offices are fast paced and inexperienced dentists are often paired with experienced dentists so there's good learning opportunity.
No 401k match but does offer stock options

    Advice to Management

I worked in private practice for years, have been with Heartland Dental almost 10 yrs. I don't have many cons except our upper management. When I went to New Employee training I had the pleasure of listening to Dr Workman speak to us. One thing he said I have not forgotten was this "when asked how does a person advance in this company", he answered "work hard and continue to grow". I personally have done nothing but that. I'm not perfect but I do know dental, how to schedule, place fillings, run the front office, took every class offered to me and can make things happen. But, I am not ever informed of job Positions when they open up or considered to step up in management. 2nd Dr I worked with even asked me if there was something personal with myself and my RDO. She over looks me, she demoted me when office managers were no longer, gave the pmo position to another. While my Dr, a 2nd Dr and 3 other PMO' s wondered why not me the same as I did. So the info on clicky, I do feel is true. I have often wondered how many things just stop with the RDO to never reach the next level for consideration. My knowledge allows me to step in almost anywhere in the office and take over only exception is licensing (Dentist and Hygiene related). In my current position I was required to be listed as a BA floater so outside management wouldn't bark about being over staffed--we are not! Not one person outside of this office recognizes I have multiple skills in several areas. Even with the changes to PMO's as a rule only to have 1 office ours has two. Mostly because RDO won't plan or try to allow another to step up. Advice, take a look at what decisions are being made or decided on by RDO'S that never get past that point. And tell them all the statement "just a BA", when it comes to pay increases is very offensive to all and especially when you bounce back and forth and can float in as a BA or EDDA position when needed! I don't feel the company holds me back I feel certain individuals do. Current RDO, is not honest either most do not place any trust in what she says.

I have been working at Heartland Dental full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

They encourage work life balance. They invest in you and your growth. Upper Management is exceptional in their leadership as they give you the tools needed to get the job done without micromanaging. They are intentional about the people they hire. I’ve grown personally and professionally. They truly are a company that stands out. From the rest. They care about their people and invest in them. The sky is the limit. I have found my dental home.

    Cons

Initially when hired there is a lot of travel. A lot to learn and not much time to reflect on what you have learned. It’s a fast paced. However, they encourage you to speak up and help you work through obstacles without judgement.

    Advice to Management

    Keep doing what your doing.

    Pros

Constant and never ending improvement, want you to be not only a good employee but a great person, promote within, care about their patients and employees, big company with small company feel, personable, great support

    Cons

Depending on where you work can be clicky. Work-life balance needs improvement.
