I have been working at Handy as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

    Setting your own schedule

    Cons

My jobs kept canceling and disappearing on my schedule s Lot and I have good ratings. And we have to pay at our own expense for the cleaning products and equipment plus the fee they charge us if we need to cancel but don’t really charge the Clients only if they are within about 30 Min before job starts then it will be the full pay and before 30 Min it’s like around $15 or $10 or $20 but the clients has more time to cancel then the pros. The rating system needs a lot of work on and the communication for the pros needs to be more better. I feel that $15 is not enough for cleaning up apartment and being that we buy our own supplies we would get more because I heard Handy takes 40% when they should be taking 20% it’s more then fair

    Advice to Management

Please work on those fee and the time line pro have the cancel and the rating system as well plus the fact that clients take advantage of pros they add things knowing it’s extra so they don’t have to pay for it and when you explain to them they get upset and rate you poorly

I have been working at Handy as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

    Flexible hours
    Sometimes tips are given
    Distance selection

    Cons

After customer notified Handy that nobody showed up to clean one of his houses (he has multiple houses as I found out later), Handy without investigation and without talking to me charged my account with fee and didn't pay me for job done and sent me warning that I will be terminated if this happens again. After many email I have sent that I did do the job and even spent extra 30 min for free to make sure it is well done and spotless, I did not get paid and was charged a fee? I asked Handy to call customer to confirm that I was cleaning his house. But Handy emailed that they will not do that and that's because it was reported thru email that I wasn't there cleaning and nothing else could be done. I asked Handy to provide me with phone number so I can talk to customer directly, but Handy refused. Since I had customer's address I had to drive for an 1 hour total both ways just to confirm that I did do the job. When I got to the house I met customer and talk to him and he emailed handy right away that I was there and it was other house of his that other cleaner didn't showed up. Handy refunded me in full but didn't compensate for my time I had to spend to investigate this issue by myself. If I didn't know address there is nothing could be done. There is no phone number to contact Handy, only email. I had to quit to avoid anything else happen in the future. I can't believe after more than a year working for Handy I got treated like that. Now I own cleaning bussiness, I have happy clients and I do well without Handy!

    Advice to Management

You don't really care about people that work for you. And you shoud! Get a phone number and investigate issues before punishing or terminating contractors.

I worked at Handy as a contractor

    Pros

    Select jobs in your area

    Cons

No customer service for me or the clients. They have "Email assistance, or FAQ" What a joke no one replies! Customers would be mad at me because Handy either over charged them, or customer service lied to them or were rude. How is Handy claiming to be good to us, they can't even get the customers happy. I quit due to them nickle and dime me.

I had an established cleaning company before Handy, and realized an ad in my small town home paper was way better than working for a company who penalized me and the customer for believing in them.

    Advice to Management

Stop saying you have email assistance, what is that? Once two of us "Handy" employees showed up at the same house, me and a man, to clean really? He checked in so did I he claimed he'd done it before and gotten paid. I cleaned the house, believing I wouldn't get paid, but felt bad for the customer. I got paid too, that let me know you guys do not have things together, emails, apps and fees do not equal actual caring compassionate humans. I'm shocked this isn't basic customer service knowledge for you? And how are you treated the "workers" making you the money? Like thieves. I'd regroup, and find the humanity in your company again. Apps and emails aren't cutting guys, clearly. Thanks

I have been working at Handy (More than a year)

    Pros

It allows you to find many jobs; and get paid a fair amount. Reasonable time frames.

    Cons

Lack of communication. No way to get in touch with customer service.

    Advice to Management

Lack of communication. I cleaned someone's apartment recently; the woman said that she had tenants who ruined her apartment and it was horrible inside. There was pet/feces on the floor and tons of clothes. I cleaned the apartment and bagged up all of the clothes to throw away. I couple days later I got a call from Handy saying that the lady reported me for stealing designer handbags. I'm a woman but handbags aren't my thing and all I did was carry the clothes out in trash bags to take to the dumpster. Handy kicked me out of the app indefinitely; and I couldn't get paid and now can't make any money. You have to do better with communication. I've never had bad reviews so my side of the story is just as important as the customers.

I have been working at Handy as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

Make your own schedule, and SOME of the customers are nice. Besides that nothing else is a "Pro".

    Cons

EVERYTHING!! HORRIBLE company! They charge us housekeepers OUTRAGEOUS fees and penalties for NO reason, WITHHOLDING our pay for NO reason, no support for employees and only way we can get in contact with anyone is email only in which we rarely get a response! When we do get a response it's literally copied and pasted into the email from the troubleshooting site, in which does NOT help at all! We are REQUIRED to provide our own cleaning equipment and supplies but NEVER received any reimbursement for what we paid even though we are PROMISED to receive reimbursement!!

A few times I was injured on the job, in which was NO fault of mine, and when I left the job to go to the EMERGENCY ROOM I was charged a fee for it, which was more than I would have received for the cleaning!! Customers lie about their locations and the tasks that they want done in order to pay less, then after we complete the job they lie and say either we never showed up or didn't do what we were supposed to and Handy would NOT pay me for the work that I actually did! Even though after this happening a few times, I started taking before and after pictures and would send them to Handy, they would still withhold my payment!

    Advice to Management

Get all new workers and GIVE ME MY MONEY OWED TO ME!! How can you treat people like this!?! HORRIBLE COMPANY AND EVEN WORSE PEOPLE!! STOP having people write fake reviews!!

    Pros

Working with handy was a great opportunity for me to improve myself. I am out of the company by their choice and I believe customers miss me. I love to work, I am energetic, smiles always, love to make money and I am gifted. Will always be great even though not with handy.

    Cons

Handy never answers the phone so you can actually express your points. They are on to making money that's all.

    Advice to Management
