Technical Account Manager
Being a woman in tech, I only recently started advocating for myself at work about advancement opportunities. Because of this I wanted to ask this question to my male counterparts. When you have 1:1's with your direct reports and talk about career growth / aspirations what is your managers’ response typically? I’d like to gauge how my experience (negative) differs from others. For instance are you met with blockades, enthusiasm, dread, etc?

Flexible workplace, WFH, opportunity to pursue projects of interest. Leadership are nice people. Positive feedback is always the top business objective. Generally healthy work environment until this year.
Salary is not adjusted for CoL across Canada. Layoffs were not handled transparently or well at all. Junior employees run much of the business and are promoted without much reason or accountability. Leadership make promises and grandiose statements they cannot keep. Being nice and sucking up are top priorities here, not work quality.Guusto Gifts Response2mo

If you have any further feedback to share, we would love to hear it. In the past, our promotion framework was not very clear. However, we have taken steps to improve this by implementing competency frameworks and a more structured performance management process. Our leaders strive to be transparent about the company's goals and priorities, but sometimes things change due to shifting priorities. We make sure to communicate any changes and reasons behind them with our employees. Our compensation is based on market rates, which we determine through data and information from third-party providers. We also have department-specific salary bands that are shared with all employees internally. We do not chase inflation for compensation.
