    Pros

    Benefits OK, facility ok, salary is the motivator. Dependable employer if you can escape resource reductions. Centralized location in Winnipeg, sponsored parking if you can get it.

    Cons

    Limited\Restricted Growth, outdated equipment, managements is challenged with innovation, vision and directions. Challenged with moving to 21st century technology and methodologies.

    Advice to Management

    Use more metric based data and less soft data for reviews, reward peak metric performers.

    I have been working at Great-West Life Assurance full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Work from home once a week or more if you have a doctor appointment or an emergency.

    Cons

    Salary is not appropriate for the work load we have.

    Advice to Management

    After the cuts of employees in 2017, lots of position got combines and the work load double to the point we have to do overtime to make it. On top of that the salary haven't change...

    Pros

    Mostly day hours, okay pay.

    Cons

    Totally unbalanced focus, catering solely on accommodating clients' needs, wants and demands with little to no realization about the consequences to the employees. Massive call volumes, lack of access to knowledge when needed created high stress environment. Diminishing recognition.

    Advice to Management

    Focus more on employees workloads, environment and stress levels, as consider where would your clients be without them.

    Pros

    Co-workers are respectful and helpful.
    On-site cafeteria and fitness facility.
    Fairly average health/dental/disability benefits, but you can change levels of coverage annually.
    Average pension benefits but has good stock purchase plan.

    Cons

    Difficult to get ahead unless you are an actuary or have 10+ years with the company.
    Thinks they're the only game in town so will short-change employees on salary.
    An insurance company that makes employees pay for their own benefits.
    Giant of the industry that wants to be "agile" but hasn't got a clue how to do that.
    Focus on head-count reductions and other cost-saving exercises rather than trying to get more/more profitable business

    Advice to Management

    Employees can see through the cost-saving plays that you make. Try being honest about it rather than trying to tell a story you think people want to hear.

    Pros

    Good hours , benefits start immediate and include medical insurance, stock option plan, tuition Assistance and pension. Some of the staff are very knowledgeable and happy.

    Cons

    Micro managed ....this is a stats driven environment and procedures are very meticulously followed and frequently changed.

    Some room for flexibility and growth, depending on the business unit -- lots of potential

    Cons

    No overall accountability for decisions; toxic culture; it's going to take a while to turn that big ship around

    Don't ever underestimate the need for communication at all levels. Be sincere and tell the truth.
