Jan. 24, 2022 - Anonymous EmployeeRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Exciting programmatic areas, motivated staff, solid benefits, founders with a clear vision.
Cons
As is the case with many not-for-profit organizations, the foundation does not have a performance reward system to speak of.

Overall great place to work, with some small improvements needed
Aug. 12, 2020 - Program Officer in Palo Alto, CARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Amazing benefits and pay, lots of flex time, beautiful facilities, talented colleagues. Harvey is an excellent leader and has been very supportive of the organization's employees during the pandemic.
Cons
Still grappling with management training issues. Manager effectiveness is all over the map and expectations don't seem consistent. They would benefit from a consistent, clear performance review system that holds managers accountable to their training objectives.

Great organization, challenged by constant flux with staff and programs.
May 26, 2014 - Grants Manager in Palo Alto, CARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Fantastic mission oriented group of people who constantly strive to innovate in their approach to making change in the world. Great benefits, and flexible work hours to support work-life balance. Tech support is good, too. Friendly HR group and good, high quality staff in terms of skill and dedication.
Cons
Constant turnover of staff, poor location; most staff live in SF or beyond (likely due to the high cost of housing in the area). The office is located on Stanford property in Palo Alto nestled in an industrial office park setting without good options to get out for lunch and very poor access to public transit to and from other regions of the Bay Area; staff mostly drive to work. Leadership is again in flux, with the past leader having left us in state of change fatigue from an over-exuberance of "disruptive innovation."

Pros
They have really good weekly lunches
Cons
Management is horrible and needs to go.
