I have been working at Google

    Pros

    1) Great way to have an inside look at how the tech industry works (if you pay attention) 2) Lots of perks, free food, many expenses paid 3) Great job to help you save money (although pay is far BELOW average for the work you do) 4) Direct management is very accommodating and you almost never interact with them if you're doing your job properly 5) Google experience, every employer likes someone that has worked at Google 6) If you like to travel, occasionally you get to go to nice places, although at times you just go to small towns or work in your home city

    Cons

    1) Work life balance is non-existent, if you value your personal life, DO NOT TAKE THIS JOB 2) Loneliness is a big thing, you never interact with anyone, lots of making up stories to stay incognito, and lots of travel (trips can be a month at a time with only a weekend back at home) you don't go to the Google offices apart from your initial training 3) Most of the employees are from an operations background, therefore almost no real understanding or interest in the technology, very numbers/quota based, never any real attention or discussion as to how the product can benefit the end user. I can honestly say that most associates would not be able to tell you exactly what their job/work does within the Google Maps application 4) Workload constantly changes and lots of fishy stuff happens to make it look like associates are busy or meet quotas (things that do not benefit the product but make it seem like everyone is doing a great job) 5) Promotions are VERY rare, you have to be in the right place at the right time AKA at the beginning of your contract and there has to be an opening (of which there are only 2/3 per region) and you have to beat out whoever else is there 6) Changes happen suddenly and without much warning or direct discussion with the associates, the assumption is probably that everyone will be rotated out within a year or two so their input doesn't matter

    I worked at Google full-time

    Pros

Really good company culture, encouraged lots of collaboration and learning. Set up so people would actually get work down.

    Cons

Sometimes work life balance is a struggle, since it feels like you are expected to spend a lot of your day at the office
