I have been working at Goldman Sachs full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The people here at Goldman are really what keep me coming back every morning. These are some of the smartest, most innovative people I've ever worked with.

    Cons

The company is huge, so sometimes it's tough to get projects green-lit to go.

I have been working at Goldman Sachs full-time for more than a year

    Pros

You get to say you work at Goldman Sachs, which, for people who don't know technology, might mean something good They encourage internal mobility.

    Cons

You will be building tools for business users who treat you very poorly and have unreasonable expectations. Technology in some divisions is very underfunded which results in too much work and small/non-existent bonuses. Everybody is smart, but depending on the team, they have little interest in helping you learn and grow. Working here sets you up to continue working at banks in the future, which is not very promising.

    Advice to Management

Stop treating Technology like second class citizens

I have been working at Goldman Sachs full-time for less than a year

      Pros

Overall a great time to join the company at any level, as they are desperate for developers and the benefits are sweet. Work is really flexible and chill as an engineer. Lots of new technologies are being introduced, and the company feels indeed like it's refocusing more towards tech.

      Cons

People still spend a considerable amount of time with old tech and the engineering culture is still in its infancy. Work can become easily really boring .

      Advice to Management

Continue to invest a lot in building the engineering culture.

I worked at Goldman Sachs for less than a year

      Pros

Goldman Sachs' intern programs are very educational and not very hard to get into if you are outgoing and talkative and have high EQ, even with mediocre or no technical skills. The technical interviews are easier (trivial compared to tech companies / hedge funds / prop trading) than the behavioural/competancy ones. GS is very kind to its interns - high pay and relocation bonus, same pay for all interns across front...

      Cons

      1. Too much time wasted in useless meetings, presentations and compulsory talks by the senior. Most pretend to be interested in others' work or words and try not to fall asleep. Peer pressure for going to social and networking events is strong. Sometimes little time is left for work. People either don't care or work overtime to compensate. 2. If you become VP you can stop learning and stay there for the rest of your...
