I have been working at Glentel full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Some nice people but i guess thats everywhere. When you have a good month the pay is pretty good...sometimes it feels like it isnt worth what you put in for it.

    Cons

Commission keeps getting cut down, minimum wage hike cost us dearly.

Terrible work and home life balance. Always unpaid meetings and overtime, calls and stuff like that.

Managers dump their work on you and come and go as they please. The whole point of manager bonus is to do the jobs very few of these managers do...

    Quite unprofessional environment

    Not Organized

    Very unbalanced gender ratio.

Many ways you are spoken to and treated aren't exactly by the labor code...

Very corrupt. Only time people seem to be repremanded for stuff like fraud and sexual/racial offenses is when they want you out...other wise people are protected. Lots of reps who complained about management got fired so everyone is in constant fear so don't expect job security.

    Micro management

No way to move up unless you are in with the boys club. Also promotion based on sales not skills is very broken.

    List goes on

Basically everything glentel says they stand for is lip service, once inside its a nightmare you can't wake up from.

    Advice to Management

    No advice will help

I worked at Glentel full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Employees can be great to wok with, depending on team
Benefits - Full Time employees receive an excellent medical/dental benefit package

    Cons

Commission Structure - When Ontario minimum wage increased, Glentel lowered commission payouts by almost half. The loss of commission was substantially larger than the increase in minimum wage, and in addition the goals for each plateau were increased.

Management - Sales Managers are selected based on sales rather than any leadership or operational skill. This results in hyper-aggressive managers bullying both customers and employees and quite often committing fraud. The same personality type also results in managers arriving to work high.

Work/Life Balance - Employees are expected to be on-call 24/7, including holidays and vacations. Not just managers. This is hugely inappropriate.

Equal pay for equal work - employees are often bullied into taking on additional responsibilities with the promise of promotion/raises. This never pans out, and those employees who refuse to be party to this system are sidelined and ingnored.

    Advice to Management

Fix the commission structure. The only reason we work for this company is the pay. I lost a net of $1000 a month in the new structure.

Change the requirements for Managers/Assistant Managers. Anybody can sell. Promote leaders, and develop them to inspire others within the store. I should not be doing all the store operations, making the schedule and training my peers while my coke-addicted manager bullies vulnerable customers into fraudulent agreements.

Enforce LP. My former staff blew the whistle on fraud that incoming manager had committed, and were all terminated while he was retained.

Drug Testing - subject management to mandatory drug testing for opiate use. The number of people that came to work while high and treated both customers and employees like dirt is astounding.

I worked at Glentel full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    There are a lot:
    1. Compensation is by far the best in the industry. Benefits package is amazing and contest/incentives happen very often.
    2. Opportunity for growth. GLENTEL is a big advocate of personal and professional development. Their training program is extensive and tackles every level on the retail side. Programs encompass, sales training, leadership, time management, hiring, operations, etc...most of their positions are filled with internal candidates, even at the senior executive level.
    3. You feel like you have a lot of autonomy in what you do. You are encouraged to think customer first and make customer experience the number one priority.
    4. People are amazing!

    Cons

If you are a person who doesn’t take responsibility and likes to blame circumstances than GLENTEL is not for you!

    Advice to Management

    Keep it up

    Advice to Management

Train the managers better to train their employees better. Be more of a team environment instead of a dictatorship
