I worked at Glentel full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    There are a lot:
    1. Compensation is by far the best in the industry. Benefits package is amazing and contest/incentives happen very often.
    2. Opportunity for growth. GLENTEL is a big advocate of personal and professional development. Their training program is extensive and tackles every level on the retail side. Programs encompass, sales training, leadership, time management, hiring, operations, etc...most of their positions are filled with internal candidates, even at the senior executive level.
    3. You feel like you have a lot of autonomy in what you do. You are encouraged to think customer first and make customer experience the number one priority.
    4. People are amazing!

    Cons

If you are a person who doesn’t take responsibility and likes to blame circumstances than GLENTEL is not for you!

    Advice to Management

    Keep it up

I have been working at Glentel full-time

    Pros

The benefits package with Manulife is quite good but then, I’m sure you could work at other places and make more than minimum wage with just as good or better benefits.

    Cons

1- compensation: hourly pay is minimum wage and comission structure is absolutely pitiful. Management tries to say that compensation is the best in the industry but I highly doubt it when the comissions start at $5 a sale. You can get bonuses but it is incredibly difficult to reach those numbers which all results in very high staff turnover rate.
2- job is high stress and you will spend a lot of time dealing with customer complaints about their phone bills or technical phone issues which takes time away from selling and often you will not have the answer to their problem
3- most of the locations are kiosks and often times you will work long hours of a shift alone which means it is impossible to get away from the kiosk to use the restroom, have a meal, or even get a drink of water

    Advice to Management

Adjust your compensation plan accordingly. You expect to hire professionals to work for your company but compensation is closer to that of a fast food chain.

Your top sales reps are doing fraud. Stop letting it occur.

I have been working at Glentel full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Some nice people but i guess thats everywhere. When you have a good month the pay is pretty good...sometimes it feels like it isnt worth what you put in for it.

    Cons

Commission keeps getting cut down, minimum wage hike cost us dearly.

Terrible work and home life balance. Always unpaid meetings and overtime, calls and stuff like that.

Managers dump their work on you and come and go as they please. The whole point of manager bonus is to do the jobs very few of these managers do...

    Quite unprofessional environment

    Not Organized

    Very unbalanced gender ratio.

Many ways you are spoken to and treated aren't exactly by the labor code...

Very corrupt. Only time people seem to be repremanded for stuff like fraud and sexual/racial offenses is when they want you out...other wise people are protected. Lots of reps who complained about management got fired so everyone is in constant fear so don't expect job security.

    Micro management

No way to move up unless you are in with the boys club. Also promotion based on sales not skills is very broken.

    List goes on

Basically everything glentel says they stand for is lip service, once inside its a nightmare you can't wake up from.

    Advice to Management

    No advice will help
