I have been working at Glassdoor full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Glassdoor was my first job right out of college. I moved to a new city where I didn't know many people. The reason why I wanted to work at Glassdoor was that I believed in the product and it was something that was useful to me in my job search. Little did I know that a short three years later I would be looking back at my decision to accept my first job at Glassdoor as one of the best decisions of my life. Many of my...

    Cons

Any company has cons no matter how great it is. Glassdoor has always done a good job taking feedback both from public reviews and internal feedback and laying out a plan to make changes. However, it sometimes takes longer to accept/see the issues and put into place fixes since we've grown so quickly. -Sales Operations- Many of our systems are very, very, very broken. This can occasionally lead to over or underpayments...

    Advice to Management

Keep putting your people first, we all love you for it. Focus on the Billing Department, we're losing revenue due to a lack of accountability and responsiveness. Put people into Sales Operations leadership positions who have experience setting up and managing our systems. You've clearly noticed the issues and seem to be on the right track.

I have been working at Glassdoor full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    - Amazing team members, friendly, great culture, supportive and (mostly) high EQ front line managers - We are still the preeminent players in employer branding. Strong brand name recognition and we actually provide a super valuable service to employers and job seekers alike. - I sell with deep conviction that our branding solution is in the best interests of not just my clients, but of their employees and society...

    Cons

    - The acquisition has made us all feel a bit uneasy with our vision. I don't feel the same conviction around our jobs marketplace. Our core business feels like it's stalling. It feels like we are ceding hard fought ground on becoming the preeminent jobs marketplace - to help everyone find a job and company they love. Perhaps this feeling will go away when we back up our new vision with new products, and we see new success...

    Advice to Management

What is the vision for THIS year? I know the vision for the future, but we're not there yet and none of our theoretical concepts helps me hit quota today. We see the cross pollination behind the scenes, we see the conveniently Indeed-friendly new vision. We are setting a new sail, but without new products to support that direction it feels like we are just drifting aimlessly into mediocrity until then.

I have been working at Glassdoor full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

The greatest part of Glassdoor are the people that I work with.

    Cons

For the past 4+ years Glassdoor has been trying to figure out how to organize internally and how to structure the goals. This is still a struggle as no one in leadership has a clue regarding the growth side of the business and how to make goals fair across the teams. I am not sure how many years they are going to try and put a “one size fits all” approach on this until they realize that does not work. There is no parity...

    Advice to Management

Stop doing the same thing over and over with a slightly different look to it. As a company that wants to put the “client first”, then you need to put your top account managers first. They are your direct contact with your most important clients and if they are not feeling success and positive that will only emulate out to clients indirectly. Plan for the future and stop trying to put band aids on problems. Lastly, listen...

    I worked at Glassdoor

    Pros

I went through a lot to get this role at Glassdoor on the growth team. My teammates were really great people and did a lot to help me get up and running. -Solid product and mission -Good benefits - Fun office atmosphere and perks -Competitive pay

    Cons

I have a lot of them because my experience was pretty awful in the end. For starters, after receiving the offer, they were tiptoeing around the idea of pulling the offer back but eventually they did not ( I can't remember the exact wording but it was very confusing). They changed my start date 3 times. It took them a month and half to decide whether or not I had a guarantee or not for the first few months I was not...

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees like they are real people, to this day I still do not really know why I am no longer working at GD. I have certainly moved on but management treated me like some puppet and gave me a pink slip for no reason. They did not even have the balls to tell me the truth about what happened. It would have been a lot easier on me if I had known why but they just didn't care enough about me to tell me. That says...

I have been working at Glassdoor full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

There are a lot of reasons I love working at Glassdoor: 1) We are making a major impact in the landscape of recruiting. The mission to help people everywhere find a job and a company they love is meaningful and is something I feel excited about doing every day. I enjoy the conversations I have with our employer partners and I feel like I'm helping them shape their strategy. It's rewarding work. 2) The people! What...

    Cons

I am sad to say that it feels like the wheels are falling off in so many areas of the business, and it's easy to lose track of all of the things I love about working here. Each department is stretched incredibly thin. B2B Product rolls out half-finished, not well thought-through products, Data Science is understaffed and can't produce the reporting the sales team needs, Product Marketing can't keep up with sales collateral...

    Advice to Management

Stop the broken record. Real talk: the last 2+ years have been painful. Last year you told us you heard us, that things were broken and that this year they would be better: "we have multiple MBA's working on quotas!" I feel like I had blind faith that it would be. I trusted the process, and well, the jokes on me because it's not better. We know exactly how this story ends because we saw it play out last year: the entire...

I have been working at Glassdoor full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The people The vision and a belief in the mission The product roadmap The benefits, especially for family defendants Amazing CEO

    Cons

Lots of meetings Sometimes feel like a customer service rep Company feels like it's Customer tolerant vs customer advocate when dealing with internal issues - sounds like we are changing this though! Csm and am roles have never made sense in the 4 years I've been here, but hoping this improves with the changes going on Pay is very cyclical, some are struggling due to annual bonuses basically vs quarterly...

    Advice to Management

Robert/Kate: I challenge you to consider the lack of thought diversity on the sales leadership team regarding growth vs new business. My anonymous advice is that we need a VP of enterprise growth who oversees ent 1 and ent 2 growth. I would personally be more motivated tomorrow with a growth focused VP at the top of my org chart. (We wouldn't need to look far as we have an amazing leader of ent 2 growth who would...

I have been working at Glassdoor full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

-Family: I say this all the time, but the employees at Glassdoor are not just that. We are really like a family--and we genuinely care about each other & enjoy each other. To me, that is the best part about waking up and coming to work every morning. And on top of that, our leadership truly cares about us as well. -We are still a start-up, so change is going to happen. A lot. If you can't roll with the punches, then this may be a hard place to be. With that being said, we change so much because leadership actually listens to us and our needs & concerns. We constantly make changes to territories, comp structure, support, etc. so we can grow & scale and still provide the employees with what we need. -Because there is so much...

Management is willing to listen. Great co-workers. Amazing world and industry changing consumer product.

    Cons

Lots of transition right now, with that comes a lot of change - keeping up with all the change can be tough sometimes.

    Advice to Management

We need to be individually focused on what our mission is doing for the world, and the impact we are having on people's daily lives. That's the mission that keeps me at Glassdoor, that's the bond we should have with each other knowing companies in our space have goals but none so altruistic as ours. We get so focused on the day to day - we forget that we are on this long journey with peaks and valleys, we forget to...
