Doesn't RecommendPositive OutlookApproves of CEOI worked at GameStop part-time for more than a year
Pros
Occasionally got free games once every 6 months if the store manager didnt want them. Only work here if you can be a store manager. They get the good stuff. Dont start in a lower position hoping to move up. You wont and store managers never leave.
Cons
You wont ever get a raise. They say youll get one, but you wont besides 10 cents every year. The likelyhood of someone being in a lower or same position as you and getting paid more is highly likely. Was told by HR that this is common. They will promise you promotions and will never give them too you. They will hire more employees before they give you the hire up position.
Advice to Management
Work on caring more for employees saleries and efforts. Less discounts and free stuff. More living wages and proper and fair pay

StarStarStarStarStarDoesn't RecommendNegative OutlookNo opinion of CEOI worked at GameStop part-time for more than a year
Pros
You get to know about games and bonuses in advance, it's fun in general being surrounded by things you actually enjoy
Cons
Pushy sales culture, management requires us heavily to constantly meet impossible numbers

RecommendsPositive OutlookNo opinion of CEOI have been working at GameStop part-time for more than 5 years
Pros
Good for those going to college full time since they are good about working around schedules.
Cons
Corporate acts as if we do not have outside lives or are generally human. Numbers, numbers, numbers. * Will take holidays away, only guarenteed day off is Christmas, for now.
Advice to Management
Please understand that this may only be a temporary job for some, those that want it to be a career will make it known.

Doesn't RecommendNeutral OutlookNo opinion of CEOI worked at GameStop part-time for more than a year
Pros
- Relatively generous discount on almost everything. - Store leaders were a joy to work with. - Some guests made the time worth it. - You learn a lot on the job.
Cons
- Stats matter, and if you're lacking in some areas, there will be consequences. - Pay is determined by performance. Don't expect to start off with a pay higher than minimum wage, either. - Surveys are key, and if you're without them (or get negative ones), you're gone.
Advice to Management
Maybe give SGAs a reason to stay other than status. We earned as much as a regular GA would for double the work.

Doesn't RecommendNegative OutlookDisapproves of CEOI worked at GameStop part-time for more than 3 years
Pros
Share your passion with customers about games
Cons
Corporate pushes shady selling tactics, low hours, non commission sales job.
Advice to Management
Add commission, grow your employees. In the day and age of declining brick and morter stores, your employees on on the store front are your lifeblood. Without them having good working conditions and competitive pay, you'll lose the good ones, and eventually fall to amazon and bestbuy.

Pros
Around Videogames and collectables. Cool merch comes in weekly. 15% discount Kids worship you when you actually know their favorites Parents worship you when you make their kids smile.
Cons
You are treated like a commissioned salesman while making 0% commission. Your performance is solely judged not by your sales but rather your quotas of warranties and memberships, ironically its the intangible sales that matter more to the company than actual sales. Unless you're a store lead or assistant, you have NO PTO. no sick days no vacation days, and November-January is considered black-out dates where... you are NOT ALLOWED TO ASK FOR A DAY OFF. You are considered on-call at all times. Raises are based on team performance NOT personal performance. I had a horrible team last year. I outshined and outperformed people with years more experience than myself. The entire team's raise was a flat 2%. You are treated like indentured servants, you're expected to come in when asked no matter what. If you injure yourself they force you to take unpaid leave if you require crutches with ZERO compensation.
