      Giant ball of opportunities

      Pros

Very flexible environment, surrounded by industry experts, and thoroughly involved in resolving challenges in the drinking and waste water treatment industry. This place keeps me challenged, and the limit of what I can learn is mostly determined by the time that I decide to put into it. Many avenues are wide open for me to apply my technical knowledge and keep learning. it is such a global company that you work with people everywhere, and if you wanted to, you could MOVE anywhere. The Oakville (Canada) office is a great site, were the community is great, people get really involved with volunteering and any internal events, and my relationship with co-workers is more like the ones with friends. Playing beack volleyball at lunch or going for a hike in the on-site trails is a great way of making the days more enjoyable and letting some steam out.

      Cons

Sometimes the days can have long hours, and being such a large company, changes are not always easy to implement.

      Pros

Large company, so there's plenty of opportunities. Great learning experience

      Cons

Hard to Advance, unless you're willing to be thrown around the country and move around every few months, or couple years. Too much red tape, too many hoops to jump through to get anything done.

      Lead Field Service Engineer

      Aug 25, 2017 - Field Service Engineer

      Business Outlook

      Pros

Great team collaboration. Mostly your direct manager comes from a service back ground and understands how his direct personnel feel.

      Cons

Their benefits could be a little better but being such a large company they cant cater to everyone. GE is all about their money and can be a bit of cheap company for one of the top fortune 500 companies. With their new initiative to cut cost, it came at the expense of the field service engineers. Wages were dropped by 30% with promise of big performance bonus opportunities but isn't realistic.
