Doesn't RecommendNeutral OutlookDisapproves of CEOI have been working at Freddie Mac full-time for more than 3 years
Pros
Very good work life balance.
Cons
Next to impossible to grow your career. Very flat structure. I've applied for over 30 positions in the past 2 years and no interviews. Managers know who they want to hire before the position is posted.
Advice to Management
Pay better. Fannie Mae is beating you on pay and benefits and bonuses. In the current low unemployment rate environment, raise pay. But this time don't raise the pay for everyone below $100k. It was insulting to those of us who make over $100k that they got raises and we did not and we were doing our job just like they were.

Pros
Freddie Mac has some great and talented individuals that work hard to get the job done even through a lot of tumultuous changing times.
Cons
The environment has become a little stressful due to many reorgs and layoffs. This causes otherwise productive employees to become distracted and fearful for their jobs.
Advice to Management
The CEO has been a lifesaver for Freddie Mac, defending the company in the public and government sectors and communicating and encouraging employees. His management team would benefit by better reflecting his approach. Unfortunately Ed has decided to leave and this will drop a large wet blanket on the company. What will the remaining management staff do? A thoughtful approach should be taken into consideration... carefully.

Cons
A little bureacratic Slave to process Quite slow environment
Advice to Management
Make some changes to the way people are considered for promotions. Please respect people who stay within the organization rather than leaving and coming back to get more pay.

Disapproves of CEOI have been working at Freddie Mac
Pros
Very few financial services companies around Washington DC region - working at head quarters can be beneficial compared to a branch office of other financial institutions. Benefits are supposed to be good. Good company to work for if exposure to mortgage market is desired. Was supposed to be a stable company (not any more). You get to work with some smart people.
Cons
Slow personal growth. It takes years to get ahead in the career ladder. Not all smart people dont stick around.
Advice to Management
Managing risks more wisely. Promote people from within. Transperent communication with employees.
