I worked at Framestore full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Breakfast Great projects Mail service Overtime after 40h Benefits- but bare minimum BIXI discount Not to much overtime until delivery Flex hours( 8-5 or 9-6)

    Cons

Cliquey New management- two faced Harassment Political games Appraisal months late Have to get in with the right group to stay Studio environment grey and sad People don’t want to socialize Unethically get people to quit or fired Doesn’t follow labour laws HR not on your side Watch your back

    Advice to Management

Start investing in artists by training and by their happiness. Stop treating them like machines instead of humans. Teach supervisors and leaders how to actually lead and how to lift up artists to their full potential instead of tearing them down. Stop putting insecure supervisors in charge that harass artists and don’t know how to talk to people. Stop hiring friends who are not qualified. Take a psychology class on how...

I worked at Framestore full-time for more than a year

    Pros

One of the best vfx companies I've worked at in London. Lots of talented staff to learn from for both new and experienced artists. You'll be working on high end effects for the latest hollywood films.

    Cons

Like all vfx companies there are a lots of deadlines to hit and there can be long days. Quite a heavy workload for senior staff.

I have been working at Framestore

    Pros

They try not to have you do overtime if it can be helped. breakfast ( fruit, bagels, cereal etc) lunch and dinner if you have to work late. great people and most are often willing to help

    Cons

For me at least they left it till the very last minute to let me know if I was extended or not which made it difficult to plan other jobs.

I worked at Framestore for less than a year

    Pros

Good machines, some scope to do varied work. Talented Artists to work with and learn from. Fairly good salary.

    Cons

Long hours which is apathetically supported within the employee culture, unfortunate usual VFX artist response of just accepting it, rather than collectively changing it. Tough to break into the established artist groups, so doesn't feel particularly welcoming, but that could be luck of the draw. Incredibly disorganised Production at times (not across the whole board but with some), for example not even having the...

    Advice to Management

Take some real time to re-evaluate the culture of work and Employee welfare. Perhaps, ask for feedback from both Full Time and Freelance Artists on a regular say 3-6 month basis. Have a more rigid set structure to how production works with shots/media management and editorial. Improve Payments!

I worked at Framestore for more than 5 years

    Pros

Great bunch of co-workers and a friendly work atmosphere

    Cons

HR/Crewing have a very blinkered view of the employees and decisions appear to be made on a point scoring basis rather than track record

    I worked at Framestore full-time

    Pros

During it being a smaller facility it felt like a very dynamic and cool place to work. Obviously this changed during the mid 00's with the Potter-Boom in soho.

    Cons

I worked at Framestore for 5 years during a fairly tumultuous period in the post-production industry. I ended up being made redundant after a lot of management changes. It wasn't dealt with in the best way, very poor communication.

    Advice to Management

Try to rise above the horror that is the high-end VFX industry - artists have bills to pay too.
