I have been working at Flipp full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - The people and individual contributor culture really is great. I love my team. - A lot of freedom on team's technical direction. - It really is a startup, despite having hundreds of employees now. This comes with pros and cons. - This also means there is a significant opportunity to contribute and learn so many things. - Opportunity to work on a lot of cool projects within Flipp. - Benefits are great. - Very competitive...

    Cons

I'm just an individual contributor but: - Management is very vague. None of the words coming out of them have much meaning. It's just buzzwords. - The wrong people are getting recognized. As a result, most of our best performing employees are leaving/already left. - High turnover at management level. Since a few months ago, a lot of strong individual contributors left. - Senior management is not good, just terrible...

    Advice to Management

    - Just because you have been at Flipp since its inception does not make you a good Manager, Director, or C level leader - Hire more senior management externally

I have been working at Flipp full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - Extremely good cross team knowledge sharing - Career growth and feedback is top-notch (coaching culture is first-class) - Hired very well in the past year, as the company grew so did the talent level - Team/Company activities and trips are engaging

    Cons

    - Office snacks have degraded over time - Office is a bit dull compared to other startups, looks like a generic office workspace - Location is meh, downtown Toronto or Waterloo could fair better - You are locked to Goodlife when it comes to exercise benefits - No transparent Education allowance - Working remotely is not an optimal experience. Tooling for remote work is lagging. So many empty spaces everywhere, its...

    Advice to Management

    - Look to improve remote work culture - Look to other companies when it comes to improving benefits, look to be innovative in this area

I have been working at Flipp full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Joining Flipp was the best career move I have made. The culture is miles ahead of previous companies. It is very much a meritocracy where hard work pays off. The team I work on regularly hangs out outside of the office because we truly enjoy spending time with each other and want to be successful because of those around us. Everyone will provide open and honest feedback across the team so that we are able to grow and...

    Cons

The company has grown rapidly and with that comes growing pains. While my team has an amazing culture, other teams in the company have suffered as we grown. This isn't surprising and teams are actively working to fix it.

    Advice to Management

Bring in more external senior leaders with experience leading and growing teams.

I have been working at Flipp full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Great culture. Good people. Great Pay. ability to test new tech.

    Cons

Missing the mark on what needs to be done. Sometimes it gets too into the startup domain that it never stops to think through products. Lack of vision and long term plans. Many people here never worked anywhere else or in bigger corps which makes their experience a little small and too specific, No exposure to what else is better outside that could be brought into the company

    Advice to Management

Need to align on what is the objectives and market of the company. Understand your space and market. Invest in your people and product and make sure to see them through before dropping them. Sometimes things or products do not pan out because the people in the product lack the proper experience and being under an unrealistic timelines not the idea itself. Stop pivoting for the sake of changing and pivoting. Flipp is no...

I have been working at Flipp full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - Great compensation - Good perks - Fun people - Most teams have flexible hours. Don't expect it if you're on the sales or product teams. - A lot of potential

    Cons

    - Exec team gets their fingers into everything. It never goes well. CEO used to yell at people alot but that might have stopped. - Most product decisions are failures. Spun to be great successes until someone needs to be fired. - 50/50 your promotion to a senior role was so that you can be fired as a scape goat. - Moral is aweful. People leaving all the time and no one is replacing them. - Culture looks great from...

    - Culture is great, everyone is really relaxed and nice - Gym membership, metro pass, friday lunches - Can ask for more complex work if you want to - Trips every winter and summer

    Cons

    - Can potentially be stuck doing the same easy task if there are no advanced jobs for you at the moment - Co-ops and full times don't hang out that much apart from company events
