Pros
They really embody the culture they preach. They make a point of hiring people who align with their values. A lot of companies talk about wanting the best for their employees, work life balance, family values, health and wellbeing. But when it comes down to it they are overlooked for business needs. Not Fidelity. They really show their employee appreciation in more ways than I can describe here. My team worked all kinds of overtime for RRSP season as is expected every year, they provided lunch and dinner for two weeks straight, not including all the other times they brought in food on busy days, and taxi chits to get home every night, even for the people that live out of the city. Makes a huge difference and really motivates you to work hard when you know your efforts are seen.
Cons
I’m not even sure if this can be considered a con, but as any company in the financial industry a lot is expected of you to meet their business needs. Many days with long hours during busy season. Extremely detailed and tedious work. You really need to be meticulous. It takes the right kind of person for that industry. However the environment is constantly supportive of your success and management is always more than happy to make accommodations to facilitate you being your best.
