      Avoid this sinking ship

      Pros

Great PTO and vacation benefits. Benefits overall were ok.

      Cons

Employees have lost millions in ESOP value since stock prices have collapsed. Scared to see what the next valuation will be as FGP will be delisted by NYSE soon. Experience will vary by branch but expect to be pushed into hazardous situations with old equipment and questionable safety practices. Management used to train as a driver and progress up the ladder, now they are generally recruited fresh out of college with no propane background.

      Revolving Door Due to Management

      Pros

Independent work if you are not a people person

      Cons

The turnover is high with this company as they do not offer much in the way career development. Equipment is poorly maintained and when you are in a truck all day doing service work or delivery in the propane industry it gets old having to deal with breakdowns. Management is not very honest or responsive to requests. I was lied to about salary bump and confronted upper level managers regarding immediate manager. If you are desperate for work they are hiring often due to high turnover, at least in my region it was.

      Pros

      Open door policy taken seriously

      Cons

Seasonally driven due to being in the utilities industry. Selling propane is important, more so in the colder regions.

High stress, very high performance expectations

      Pros

Work week consists of Monday - Friday, 8-5, weekends off except for an occasional Saturday due to very cold winter or snow storm. Holidays off with pay decent salary.

      Cons

Sitting for 8 hours with a head phone talking with 50 % disgruntled customers due to pricing or urgent need for propane, extreme expectations to perform other duties in an unrealistic alloted time frame. 60% focus on stock holders, 20% focus on employees and 20% focus on customers.

      Great Company

      Pros

Great company that offers a strong compensation package along with a ESOP that is completely funded by the company. As a working parent the flexibility that Ferrellgas offers is a huge plus for my family.

      Cons

Retail propane is a weather driven business and in extended periods of above normal temperatures sometimes difficult decisions have to be made. During these times management does what it has to do for its customers, the business and company employees.

      Pros

Mgmt is focused on driving results while also making the employee a priority. Advancement opportunities are available for those that are willing to dedicate themselves.

      Cons

Weather driven business. Public awareness of propane and the challenge of parity amoungst other segments such as Natural Gas and electricity.
